Join us for an entertaining Afternoon
“Michael Riedel has become the columnist Broadway loves to hate. An attack dog in a world of lapdogs, this magna cum laude Columbia graduate, who reads Dante and Suetonius for fun, is an unlikely tabloid bad boy. But his twice-a-week, mean, often funny, always dishy, ruthlessly vitriolic behind-the-scenes gossip column has made him the scourge and the talk of the theater world.” New York Magazine
We are so excited to launch our new 3T event series, “Saloon Salons” with the “tabloid bad boy”Michael Riedel, New York Post theater columnist, co-host of PBS Theater Talk, and author of “Razzle Dazzle: The Battle for Broadway” as our first guest in the study of The Writing Room, (the former Elaine’s).
We’ll dish the Broadway dirt with Michael and hear some of the tales from his new book RAZZLE DAZZLE: The Battle for Broadway (Simon & Schuster. Michael’s book is a fascinating history of the stars, producers, and mega-hits and reveals all the shocking drama, intrigue, and power plays that happened off stage. Books can be purchased at the event, and Mr. Riedel will be available to autograph them.
And what better venue than The Writing Room, home for 50 years of the original Elaine’s with its droves of celebrities, screen writers, New York notables and locals alike. Upper East Side restaurateurs Michael & Susy Glick have ushered in a new wave with opening of The Writing Room while still paying homage to its iconic history.
