Next week, there is a nightlife event you won’t want to miss happening in town: the fabulous Haley Swindal performing at 54 Below in a show celebrating the songs of Liza Minnelli.

On July 26 at 9 PM, Sing Happy: The Songs of Liza Minnelli, a show written and directed by the constantly working and uber talented Will Nunziata, will feature Haley performing the songs Liza made so famous. From “Maybe This Time” to “Cabaret” to “New York New York” you will hear music associated with Miss Minnelli  interpreted by this constantly working musical theatre actress and producer. Swindal can currently be seen as Mama Morton in Chicago on Broadway. https://54below.com/artists/haley-swindal/

Dishes from 8 regions of Italy and 4 Italian wines will be served in an attractive “piazza” like setting. Hear from food and wine experts in an informal interview format and watch me do a segment for my radio show from the venue. A portion of each ticket will be donated to the No More Fear Foundation.  http://bit.ly/streetfoodandwine

And a fascinating documentary about Sid Caesar, one of the icons of comedy, will air on PBS Monday July 22. A musician and stage actor turned television comedy legend, Sid Caesar speaks about his art and career in this film, with clips harvested from archived interviews.  Caesar’s live 1950’s program “Your Show of Shows” was the forerunner for so many comedy variety shows, most notably Saturday Night Live. Sid Caesar: On the Language of Comedy airs Monday, July 22 at 10:30 pm on Thirteen, WLIW21, NJTV, and PBS Passport.

My interview with the producer of this film, Jeffrery Pancer can be heard on “Bagels and Broadway with Valerie Smaldone” Saturday July 20 between 9:05 and 10 AM on WNYM Radio, and on podcast following the broadcast.
