It’s Women’s History Month and the Society of Illustrators has a fabulous exhibit that honors Dale Messick, America’s first female syndicated female cartoonist and the creator of “Brenda Starr Reporter”. And you can join us there on March 20th for a staged reading of “Reporter Girl” a play written by her granddaughter. The NY Historical Society also has several exhibits honoring women.  Valerie Smadlone….. As you are reading this, we will be auditioning hopefuls for our April 15th Tomatoes Got Talent show. This will be the 6th year that Randie Levine Miller and Cheryl Benton have co-produced this show. We’ll announce the finalists in a special newsletter on Monday that will feature their audition performances. It will be awesome.

March 9. Winter Wine Festival

Head to the PlayStation Theater, which will be transformed into an indoor vineyard! Boasting Old World vintages, rising stars from emerging regions, and several New York wineries, the Festival’s wines have been meticulously curated to offer you exquisite, affordable luxury. March 13. 3T Cooking Event with Pamela Morgan

NYC LIFE: Oscar Fever, Tickets Giveaway, Museums, Dining Out and More

Cookbook author and entertainment expert, Pamela Morgan, founder of Flirting with Flavors, is hosting an interactive cooking demo at her beautiful 5th avenue apartment overlooking Central Park. Get ready for a menu with an Italian flare and Sinatra on the Sonos. We’ll start with cocktails followed by a wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil. We’ll finish off the night by learning how to make a lemon and raspberry panna cotta with toasted hazelnuts. Explore the lives and legacies of women who have shaped and continue to shape the American experience. A highlight is “Women’s Voices” a multimedia experience. March 25. Meet the author of “Winning the War on Cancer”

Sylvie Beljanski’s book, “Winning the War on Cancer, is groundbreaking. It’s a true tale that often reads like a thriller, as she tells the story of her father Mirko Beljanski, PhD, one of the first green molecular biologists, and his breakthrough work in cancer research to find a non-toxic and natural cure. Sylvie continues his work through the Beljanski Institute and Foundation. Meet her at Barnes & Noble for a conversation on this very important topic.  Barnes & Noble 555 Fifth Avenue @6:30 PM. The event is FREE, but you must RSVP by 3/12.


March 20. Brenda Starr Reporter at Society of Illustrators + Invite to Staged Reading

We recently had at lunch at the Society of Illustrators and when we reached the second-floor landing, we were thrilled to see the latest exhibit, “Brenda Starr, Reporter: The Art of Dale Messick” that was curated by her granddaughter Laura Rohrman. Laura has written a play about her grandmother, “Reporter Girl” and on March 20th she is doing a staged reading that includes a wine reception and exhibit. $10 donation suggested. We have a few reserved seats, but you must RSVP. (Note:  Our NYC Insider Club members get first priority.) Get all the details.
