There’s nothing better than live music, and NYC has it aplenty. We have 3 great suggestions.  If you’re in town this summer, check out Friday nights at the Met.  And not to rush summer, but Women At Woodstock has two retreats this fall.

June 28. Hit Makers: Icons in Performance and Conversation with Valerie Smaldone

One of our favorite Rod Stewart songs is “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” which Carmine Appice, legendary rock drummer, co-wrote. He’s performed with Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, Vanilla Fudge and many other bands. He will join Valerie for an onstage-conversation and will also perform and do a book signing.  Tuesday, June 28 at the Sheen Center (7:30 PM.) Get your tickets now.

June 28. Ellen Kaye at Chez Josephine

LiveIt!LIVE is bringing their next live music event to Chez Josphine.  Created by a few of our favorite people, Ethan Fein (founder), Edgardo Burgos, Seth Goldman and the fabulous performer Ellen Kaye, LiveIt!LIVE is a new non-profit growing sustainable live entertainment everywhere we go. Ellen Kaye will be hosting and performing along with some other wonderful entertainers.  Here’s to live music!  Show starts at 8:30 PM. No cover charge, Chez Josephine will open for dinner at 5PM.  Make reservations.

July 13 & August 3. Celia Berk Serenades Manhattan at the Metropolitan Club

“Ms. Berk made you feel about New York the same way a Cole Porter song makes you feel about Paris.” Stephen Holden, The New York Times.  Celia Berk is setting the NYC cabaret scene on fire.  She’s won all kinds of awards in the past two years and has just completed her second album, “Manhattan Serenade.  If you love wonderful singers, cabaret clubs, and NYC, don’t miss this show.  Watch the video below and get your tickets now!

October 28-30. Women At Woodstock Retreat

Founded 12 years ago by Ann Voorhees Baker, these annual retreats in Woodstock NY for “women who aren’t kids” have become hugely popular.  You’ll meet other amazing women in a very supportive atmosphere that helps you step out of your “real life” into your “really real” life. The weekend includes workshops like surmounting your fears and roadblocks, accomplishing your goals, and more. Each day starts with yoga and ends with a late afternoon wine and cheese event.  Learn more.

Oct. 31-Nov. 6. Writers Retreat
Women at Woodstock is hosting two back-to-back Writer’s Retreats at Lifebridge Sanctuary in Woodstock, NY. Novice writers, published authors, bloggers, memoirists, fiction writers – all are welcome. Each day will start with a one-hour writing workshop.  You’ll find plenty of time for writing and the opportunity for private coaching and collaborative conversations.   Learn more.
