If you’re a dog lover, there are two special events coming up for two worthy organizations. And it’s so important to support our local theatre companies and you can do that this weekend by seeing a showcase of plays by the Network Theatre Company.  And you know spring is really here when the cherry blossoms bloom which they’re doing right now at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.  Don’t miss next week’s Sakura Matsuri cherry blossom celebrations.


April 23. Support Our Local Theatre

Live theatre is alive and well in every nook and corner of the city. This Sunday head to the Barrow Group Theatre and catch and an amazing showcase of plays from the Network Theatre Company that were created and brought in by their company members.  You’ll experience great stories and great acting including Nicole Gut in “Book Club”.  Tickets are just $18 and you’ll be supporting new theatre and new artists.  THE BARROW GROUP THEATRE | 312 West 36th Street, 3rd floor| NYC. April 29–30. Celebrate the Cherry Blossom Season

 

It’s that glorious time of the year when the cherry blossoms bloom at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and are celebrated with the Sakura Matsuri featuring over 60 events and performances that celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. The festival celebrates the Japanese cultural tradition of enjoying each moment of the cherry blossom season.  Get tickets now


May 8. Glenn Close to Host Event for Puppies Behind Bars

Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and explosive detection canines for law enforcement. And on May 8, Glenn Close will host an event on their behalf at the Bryant Park Grill. Get details at 212-680-9562.


May 13. Wine and Puppies

Here’s a fun event to kick off Mother’s Day weekend for a favorite non-profit of ours, Unleashed NY, that unleashes the power of girls and saves homeless puppies from overcrowded shelters. This event features 50 women wine makers who broke through the glass ceiling. You’ll get to sample some terrific wines and enjoy great food too, all for a good cause.  Lu Dun’s Wines, NYC.
