NYC Life: The Merry, Merry Month of May
From dance parties, to shopping sales, and last minute Mother’s Day gift ideas, music and more, May in NYC is shaping up just fine.
May-June Bryant Park Dance Lessons
We love Bryant Park all year long, and here’s another reason. On Wednesday nights in May and June you can head there in the evening (starting at 5PM) and get dance lessons from amazing instructors in swing, tango, salsa, bahata and more. And the bands are awesome. If you don’t want to take a lesson just stroll by and enjoy the scene. Get the details.
Don’t Miss the Midtown Men – the Original Jersey Boys
If you saw the original cast, you know how great these guys are. You can catch them twice in May:
Friday, May 20 at 8pm
Count Basie Theater
Red Bank NJ
Saturday, May 21 at 8pm
BB Kings Blues Club, NYC
Splurge on Mom
Once a year we pay tribute to our Mothers, past and present, as well as those who have brought the most positive qualities of Motherhood into our lives. If you are doing some “last minute” shopping and want to splurge a little on Mom, (or yourself) why not take a minute to view the website at Empire Diamond, where you will find an array of choices. If you have questions, or a specific item in mind, call our friend, Anne Akers, at Empire Diamond and she will give you a hand. 1.800.728.3425, serving its customers since 1931!

May 5,7, 19. Living the Dream…
We love tomatoes who never give up on their dreams, and singer Helane Blumfield is one of those tomatoes. By day she is a top exec at an ad agency, but has recently returned to her first love – performing. Check out her second solo show, “Call Me H!” at Don’t Tell Mama. “‘Call me H!’ is a show about blending borders between genders and celebrating the men who inspire me,” says Ms. Blumfield. Her repertoire is a mix of pop, rock and theatrical material, from Dar Williams’ “When I Was a Boy” to “Moondance” by Van Morrison and “A Piece of Sky”. Don’t Tell Mama is located at 343 West 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. For reservations, please call after 4:00pm daily: 212.757.0788.
