Hello my fellow tomatoes:
I love to surf the net and discover websites and learn about new offerings just about every day.
I also love to check in on Linked In all the time. Probably the best business social networking site out there, Linked In has afforded me great resources in terms of networking groups, business opportunities and even career advancement. It's just a great, great site. If you are interested in business networking and haven't ventured there yet (although most people are well aware of the site) do so. www.LinkedIn.com
So late one night, there I was checking into one of my women's business networking groups, and I came across this post about a new program called, "The Broads Series". The name intrigued me so I clicked on the link and was really impressed with what I saw. So much so, that I took the initiative to write to Tiffany Loria, the series' creator and producer.
Tiffany wrote back to me almost immediately and thanked me for my good wishes. About a week later, she put out a call to meet women who were interested in working on the series in some way, set up appointments at a cool coffee shop on Mercer Street, and there I went, meeting up with this smart, innovative woman who just "gets it." Tiffany understands that women are often put into narrow categories in the media and entertainment, that there is a great deal of emphasis placed on vapid women in our world (hello Paris, are you listening?) and that the women who are smart, strong, forward thinking, sassy, sexy, opinionated, risktakers are just not depicted nearly enough. So Tiffany decided to do what only a "broad" would do, and create a series based on women who she considers to be "broads." In Tiffany's own words, she defines the series as "a doc/bio format refocusing the fast food girls that the world force feeds us to women of substance, humor and beauty, capturing them in personally evocative off guard and engaging environments." Sort of a reality series for grown ups. What I love about The Broads Series is the look and feel of it. Check out the site and you'll see what I mean. The photography is real and captures the true depth of the subjects.
The videos that have been shot really tell us something about the amazing women we are getting to know, and makes us want to come back to learn about other women who will be featured in upcoming episodes. Watch the trailer.
Tiffany's plan
Tiffany has a very specific vision, and has major entertainment decision makers behind her, so I know it is just a matter of time until we'll be tuning in to The Broads Series. And by the way, it's a series for men too. Tiffany shared with me that she has heard from so many men who are hungry to find out about women who are beautiful and offer much more. Remember, you heard it here first. In the meantime, do check out www.thebroadsseries.com.
Congratulations to Tiffany and her team for taking the initiative to present women of quality and substance in a cool, entertaining series. I simply can't wait!
Till next week,
Valerie
