Old Time NY Meets Selfies
The Museum of the City of NY is one of our favorites and you love old photos, don’t miss their “Lost in Old NY” Exhibit. They’re inviting visitors to “step into seven scenes”, and literally picture yourself there with a selfie. Picture yourself in the original Penn Station – a crime it was torn down – or heading into Berdorf’s with elegant ladies who lunch in the early ‘50s. Okay we know this is late notice, but if love animals head to Shubert Alley where you’ll find dogs, cats, celebrities, and plenty of positive energy at Shubert Alley. This legendary pet adoption and awareness event was created by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore and is a chance for potential adopters to meet dozens of wonderful dogs and cats awaiting new homes from more than 25 animal shelters and rescue groups. Then at 5:00 p.m., an exciting lineup of celebrities will introduce some of these wonderful animals from the stage. The event is free and open to the public. Funds for the various shelters are raised from a raffle, silent auction, signed memorabilia sales and donations. http://www.broadwaybarks.com/

Visit Hamilton’s NYC Home
If you’ve given up on tickets to see Hamilton, here’s a unique way to experience “Hamilton” – visit his home right here in NYC. This was news to us, but turns out Hamilton built this delightful Federal Style home as his country home on 32 acres in 1802 in what is now part of Harlem. He named the home “The Grange” and chose James McComb Jr as his architecture. McComb was also the architect for Gracie Mansion and New York City Hall. His time in the house was short-lived, since two years later he had his fateful duel with Burr.
In 1962 the house was donated to the National Park Service. It’s been moved twice, and recently beautifully restores, and still resides on Hamilton’s original property. Tours are FREE and you’ll get wonderful history and architectural lessons. Hamilton Grange National Memorial, 414 W. 141st St., NYC. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free. More info
