golden girlsI know you all remember those legendary tomatoes from the hit sit-com, The Golden Girls” (even if you don’t want to admit it). Blanche, Dorothy and Rose are all brought to life, in drag – in this hilarious take on the campy ‘80s show. You will get to see the “girls” in all their 80’s finery, hear the family drama and sing along to favorite Christmas tunes.

Dec. 23-25. Kung Pao Kosher Comedy

kungpao-fort-tshirtNot everyone celebrates this time of year with a tree and carols, so cheers to Jewish comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant (where else?). Elayne Boosler, comedian/writer/animal activist is the headliner for this year’s event.

Now entering its 24-year, the audience has expanded from 99% Jewish attendees to include anyone who wants to laugh. A Chinese banquet style dinner is served at table names including Barbra Streisand, Borscht Belt, Chopped Liver and Mah Jongg. The Dinner show features a 7-course dinner, with one “kosher” shrimp dish blessed by a very reformed rabbi.

Onsen – Japanese Inspired Bathhouse

spaNewly opened in the Tenderloin, The Onsen is hidden away at the back of a building, and inspired by ancient Japanese bathhouses. With a hallway lined by massage and acupuncture rooms, marked by handcrafted shoji doors – bliss and healing await.

There is a 10-person pool adjoining, and an inviting tearoom in the front of the building. You can soak, relax, and then enjoy the full menu of plant driven dishes, tea and sake.
