NYC Life: Children’s Film Festival, FREE Staged Reading,  London Philharmonic, Armory Tour

February is coming to an end….but not so fast.  You can catch a free staged reading of a new comedy about dating, starring Sandy Duncan. The London Philharmonic is in town, and the Children’s Film Festival starts.  Love art? Check out this intimate tour of the Armory. So much going on, here are few of our picks.

Feb. 24-March 19. New York International Children’s Film Festival.

During four weekends in the month of March, the Festival invites families to explore the world without leaving NYC — and over 25,000 parents, children, and filmmakers are treated to the best new films for ages 3-18 at venues throughout NYC. Each year, we scour the globe to present a highly selective slate of the best animation, live action, documentary, and experimental film from over 2,500 international submissions. Get the details.

Feb. 26-27. The London Philharmonic at Lincoln Center

The “meticulous, brilliant conductor” Vladimir Jurowski (New York Times) returns with the London Philharmonic Orchestra for Chopin’s cascading First Piano Concerto, featuring Canadian-Polish prodigy Jan Lisiecki. Just 21 years old, Lisiecki has been winning over critics and audiences worldwide with his “refined technique, keen musical instincts and a poetic sensibility” (New York Times). In the second half, the orchestra shifts to Mahler’s sunlit Fourth Symphony. Get tickets.

Feb. 27-28. FREE Staged Reading: Sandy Duncan in Love Quest

Our friend Ellen Kaye of LiveItLiveNYC, invites tomatoes to a free staged reading of Love Quest, a comedy that explores the journeys of two women in the perilous world of online dating.

Sandy Duncan plays Kate Crawford, 60, who is recently divorced after a 30-year marriage.  Her husband left her for a younger woman and she is dealing with issues of abandonment, old age and the new world order of internet dating. Two dates: Feb. 27 @6PM & Feb. 28 @4PM. Saint Luke’s Theatre, 308 West 46th Street. Limited Seating. Please RSVP at info@liveitlivenyc.org
