Holy Moly Tomatoes it’s August!!!! What’s good about August? Well a lot gals. August is when “Jazz on the Lawn” returns to Santa Monica for its 12th^h season. Tomatoes have chance to see a rare class film on the grounds of the scenic and delightful Heritage Square Museum.  August is your last chance to enjoy Saturday mornings with the kiddoes at the Ford Theatre’s “Big World of Fun” program. Let’s face it our attention spans are getting shorter so the “Short and Sweet Festival” happening in… August… might ring your bell tomatoes. Start enjoying August gals!

August 5. Classic at Heritage Square 

Tomorrow evening Heritage Square Museum will present Alfred Hitchcock’s most overlooked and enjoyable thrillers.  I’m willing to be a lot of you Tomatoes haven’t seen this film.  Well I haven’t either, so methinks it is about time ladies and what could be better than to see a rarely screened classic film amid classic historical structures under the stars.

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics to see “Young and Innocent”, the British film from 1937 that began Alfred Hitchcock’s career before he achieved international stardom in Hollywood. “Young and Innocent” is a crime mystery about a man wrongly accused of murder who’s on the run. And I love that the film will be projected onto the side of the museum’s historic boxcar!

August 5 and 12. Big World Fun   

Attention Tomatoes who need to entertain the kids! Saturday morning at the Ford Theatre’s “Big World of Fun” is a great way for parents, grandparents and/or aunties to enjoy a cultural and lively time with the kids in your life gals.  There is lots of fun to be had in this one-hour music and dance concert that represents different cultures from around the world. It will get you moving and groovin’ with the kids Tomatoes.

Just 2 concerts left ladies! And guess what tomatoes… the kids are free and adults are only 5 bucks. How do you like them apples…Tomatoes?! There are lots of pre-show activities  so come early for the “Nature in Your Backyard” program, to experience the  craft activities that reflect the morning performance and to grab a bite before the show. Sounds just like a big world of fun to me ladies.

August 6. Jazz on the Lawn

The heat is on in LA but you can cool down every Sunday in August with the Santa Monica “Jazz on the Lawn” concert series, hosted by Santa Monica Cultural Affairs, at Gandara Park. Relax and enjoy a sampling of genres through a lively jazz lens that will appeal to all. Feel the beat tomatoes and hint…hint…bring your dancing shoes.

 The “Big Butter Jazz Band” is on the slate for this Sunday August 5. They bring their upbeat, catchy, traditional New Orleans jazz to SoCal Tomatoes.  Plus, this Sunday get there early for a swing dance lesson on the lawn with a pro swing dancer tomatoes. There are even intermission performances gals. You are also welcomed to bring a picnic or sample the tastes of the Food Trucks on hand. All the bases are covered at “Jazz on the Lawn”

Now- August 27. Short and Sweet Festival 

The “Short & Sweet Hollywood” festival, now in its second year run at the Stella Adler Theatre, is the first “Sweet and Short” theatre festival to be presented in North America. Yeah for us!  It’s all about being 10 minutes or less and providing enhanced opportunities for artists while bringing a quick taste of local and international talent to Los Angeles. It a chance to experience unique, short and sweet theatre Tomatoes.

This year “Short and Sweet Hollywood” has expanded its season providing you gals with more opportunities to attend with a plethora of bite-sized plays and theatre pieces.   The world’s largest 10-minute performing arts theater festival started in Sydney Australia 15 years ago and to date have presented over 5,500 original new works in Theatre, Music and Dance across the world with events in 30+ cities and 1212 countries.  Wow! I am delighted this easy breezy entertainment has come to LA!  The Three Tomatoes welcomes you.
