Meow Meow! Attention Tomato Feline Fanatics!  Two words, “CatCon”.  It’s fundraising time for the 2020 MicroClinic Initiative (one of my favorite nonprofits in LA) with their ingenious “Pong to Save Moms” event and you can help if so desired. Time to get your groove on Tomatoes with “Dance Downtown”. And for all you strong Tomatoes, Theatre Critic Ellen Dostal says “Strong Women Get Their Due on Stage” in four fantastic productions in August. Music to my ears Tomatoes!


Aug. 12-13. Cat Con

LA LIFE: CatCon, Dancing, Moms & Pong, Strong WomenHey all you Tomatoes with cattitude, “CatCon” is part expo and part symposium where pop culture and cat culture converge at the biggest cat related convention in the world with one of the biggest cat adoption lounges anywhere.

It’s all brought to you with the help of Rachael Ray™ Nutrish to spread joy and goodness to cats and the people who Love them.  I’m sure that’s a ton of you Tomatoes.

LA LIFE: CatCon, Dancing, Moms & Pong, Strong WomenAnd OMG Julie Newmar (catwoman on the Batman series) will be there.  Every year,CatCon® works with numerous cat charities to benefit kitties in need.  In the past two years, the convention has donated over $70,000 to charities and helped to get over 178 cats adopted with onsite groups Best Friends and spcaLA. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation  is their official charity beneficiary for 2017. CatCon will donate $2 of every ticket sold to ISF, as well as a portion of money raised by all Meet and Greets.


September 14. Pong to Save Mom

2020 MicroClinic Initiative” cordially invites you to a super duper charity event in support of mothers and newborns in Kenya. 2020 MicroClinic Initiative and their signature program “Operation Karibu” is on the Three Tomatoes Los Angeles list of non-profits we love, so of course, we’re going to give this unique fundraiser, “Pong to Save Moms”, a “shout out”.  Join the fun with hors d’oeuvres, drinks, ping-pong, and a raffle to win prizes while helping to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for mothers in rural Kenya.

When you register for “Pong to Save Moms”, you’ll have the opportunity to fundraise, individually or with a team, leading up to the event as well. Neato! You also have the option to purchase discounted raffle tickets and gals one of the prizes is a one-week stay in Costa Rica. How do like that, Tomatoes! Participation in ping pong at the event is not required but it might be a hoot to give it a go gals.

Can’t make the party? Well, Tomatoes, donations are always appreciated and will help expand 2020 MicroClinic’s reach to continue to serve the most vulnerable mothers in Kenya.


Aug 4, 18, Sept 1. Dance Downtown Music Center

It’s always good to shake your booty gals and the Music Center makes it possible to dance on Friday nights with “Dance Downtown”. Tomatoes can catch the last free dance parties at the Music Center this summer where you can learn dance moves from each genre. Or if you are well versed already you can just start jiggling to the music and trip the light fantastic under the stars with the Disco, Tango and the Salsa. Remember, women over 40 rock…literally.

All ages welcome and no experience necessary. You can also enjoy DJ Nights which alternates with Dance Downtown on August 11 & 25. It also allows you to move and groove ’till midnight. Don’t worry if you get hungry or thirsty ladies, food and drink are always available for purchase at both events.  Enjoy the beat under the stars Tomatoes and don’t forget your dancing shoes.
