Taking a day off from “Dry January”
Now that the holidays are behind us, many of us have taken to changing our diet for the better, and even perhaps reducing our alcohol intake. However, by the middle to end of January, a break from austerity just might be in order. After all, you deserve a treat!
How about taking a day off from your diet and heading to the January Fine Wine and Food Festival at Nassau Coliseum? This is the second year that this event is taking place, and for a ticket price of $49 ($65 at the gate), you can sample local wines from wineries like the stunning Raphael Vineyards, Martha Clara, Pellegrini, Lenz, Hawk Haven and many more. There will also be food samplings, from pickles to jerky, pretzels to wontons, as well as tastings from restaurants.
For fans of legendary baseball players, a VIP ticket ($125) provides access to meet, greet and take photos with World Series champions Doc Gooden and Mookie Wilson in a special lounge area, where you can indulge in specialty cocktails and a private wine tasting.
There are two sessions: 11:30 AM-2:30 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. VIP entry is one-half hour before each session.
The Fine Wine and Food Festival is the perfect antidote to the late January doldrums!
