Patrick’s – A New Theatre District Restaurant to Enjoy
I love the theatre district. I am in that area all the time. Spanning only a few blocks, the real estate there sports incredible theatre (obviously) art, culture, restaurants, kitschy stores and teeming humanity.
Of all the streets in that area, 42nd street is my least favorite, because it is the most crowded.
However, now, I have a very good reason to hustle though the crowds. Patrick’s, a new upscale, yet casual and affordable eatery, has opened right on 42nd, just east of 8th, so it’s actually quite easy to duck in to.
Patrick’s fills the void of restaurants providing friendly and smiling service, spacious tables, a menu that features steaks, seafood, burgers, a raw bar, well-priced wines and cocktails. On the beverage menu, a couple of cocktails indicate that, with purchase, a dollar will be donated to a specific charity, and I truly appreciate that effort. All the food at Patrick’s is solidly prepared, at incredibly reasonable prices. You can order a truly fine glass of wine for $10, a price that is pretty hard to find anywhere in New York, a burger for $14, roasted salmon for $23. Delicious sides include perfectly cooked broccolini (one of my all time favorite veggies.)
When you go, be sure to check out Patrick’s extensive raw bar. I tasted some fabulous briny oysters, Jonah craw claws and shrimp.
Follow those starters with a nicely cooked piece of fish or steak, salad with chicken, or lobster roll. The kind of comfort food you yearn for, but often have a hard time finding is available at Patrick’s.
Now, if you are a big fan of Tony’s di Napoli’s chicken parm, voila!, it is on the menu at Patrick’s, as well. You can enjoy that yummy staple at Patrick’s, just a few blocks away from the mother ship restaurant.
The reason you can enjoy Tony’s chicken parm? Well, Patrick’s is owned by the lovely Wetanson family, who also owns Tony’s di Napoli, with Stuart Wetanson at the helm.
Patrick’s (named after Stuart mother’s childhood dog), was conceived as a comfortable and casual, yet stylish neighborhood restaurant, servicing patrons of the theatre district. It’s a place that you will want to return to again and again for simple, well prepared dishes. It’s a perfect dining choice pre and post theatre, but also a great destination spot just for the pleasure of enjoying a good, solid meal.
There are party rooms, accommodating 10-300 people, so Patrick’s Restaurant in Times Square is definitely a place to consider for your company or personal luncheon or event.
