Escape to the Chateau (Peacock)
We are totally addicted to this documentary series, which was a hit UK show, and garnered 3 million viewers for each episode. Now it has made its way to the U.S. and you watch it FREE on Peacock (NBC’s streaming network.) British engineer Dick Strawbridge and his wife Angel buy a 19th century, rundown French chateau surrounded by a moat. The series shows them over the course of a few years, as they restore, mostly by themselves and on a shoestring budget, the 45 rooms, the chateau building, the gardens, and so much more. They do 25 weddings and other events there throughout the year. You will love them and be totally captivated!
The Chair (Netflix)
At a major university, the first woman of color to become chair, played to perfection by the always amazing Sandra Oh, tries to meet the dizzying demands and high expectations of a failing English department. It’s a dark comedy with a fabulous cast includes Holland Taylor, as one of the aging professors the school wats to the chair to get ride of, is brilliant and hysterically funny.
Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu)
Based on The New York Times best-selling book by author Liane Moriarty, “Nine Perfect Strangers” takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort’s director, Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them. It follows the book closely and features Nicole Kidman as Masha, the director, and Melissa McCarthy as one of the nine strangers.
