It will be a fun filled day in Canoga Park for the Valley Cultural Foundation’s “Day of the Dead Family Festival.” Can a ghost story be funny? November 6. Farm Day
Whoop De Do and Tickety Boo! Its Farm Day! Ventura County Farm Day is a day full of FREE agricultural tours and activities hosted at 15 different farms, ranches, and agricultural organizations across Ventura County. Farm Day is all about meeting the hands that feed you. Can you tell I’m excited Tomatoes?
And it’s all about having fun, exploring the community food system, and learning about Ventura County’s rich agricultural heritage. The tours are self-guided. You travel in your own car, at your own pace, visiting the locations most interesting to you. You will even receive free food & potting soil and there will be tractor rides, food tastings and more! November 13. Celebrating Historic Griffith Park
Griffith Park is the heart and soul of Los Angeles. It just so happens that our gorgeous public park is turning 125 years old and it’s time to “Celebrate Historic Griffith Park” with a free, parkwide event because Griffith Park is extraordinary, Tomatoes!
Learn about the significant structures, sites, and stories of Griffith Park as the L.A. Conservancy unites with more than two dozen organizations to tell the park’s 125-year story. In 2009, Griffith Park was designated as an Historic-Cultural Monument (HCM) to recognize its significance and ensure its long-term preservation. Griffith Park is the largest Historic-Cultural Monument in the City of Los Angeles and home to some of the most iconic historic structures and sites. Its history is as remarkable as its expanse of mostly untouched natural resources.
November 7. Día De Los Muertos in Canoga Park On Main Street
Enjoy Music, Food Trucks, Vendors, and more at Main Street Canoga Park’s 21st Annual “Día de los Muertos Family Festival.” Every year, the community of Canoga Park is joined by vendors, performers, and artists from all over greater Los Angeles and beyond to create and celebrate this memorable and massive festival.
It’s cultural, it’s educational, it’s a party! Aztec dance performances, beautiful alters, a classic car show, a talent show, food from all over the world and more. The Canoga Park “Día de los Muertos Family Festival is organized by a small group of hardworking community members, local merchants, organizations and business sponsorships. They do their very best to make the event a huge success with the resources available and they always accomplish their goal.
November 16. The Sentence
Aloud, a free program from the Los Angeles Library Foundation, presents the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning author, Louise Erdrich, discussing her latest novel, “The Sentence” with writer, Eric Gansworth. “The Sentence” is a wickedly funny ghost story and I find it hard to resist a ghost story, Tomatoes.
“The Sentence”, asks what we owe to the living, the dead, to the reader and to the book as it reckons with some of last year’s monumental real-life events. Good questions. ALOUD is the Library Foundation of Los Angeles’ celebrated literary series of conversations at the downtown Central Library. You can enjoy this program from the comfort of your sofa as Aloud programs are continuing to be hosted virtually for the time being.
November 5 – 14. Craftsman to Modern Virtual Tour
Join “Preservation Pasadena: Craftsman to Modern” for this year’s fall education event – a virtual 10-day celebration of preservation, history and architecture including lectures, panel discussions, self-guided tours, conversations with artists and collectors and more! Super convenient because it’s virtual, Tomatoes.
The event will be jam packed with lectures by nationally recognized experts, tours of historic districts and significant landmarks, panel discussion about places of historic and cultural distinction, chats with artists, craftspeople, and antique experts. Wow! That is filled to the brim, Tomatoes!
