Best Friends LA has provided a “Wishlist” so Angelenos can send their gifts direct! Remember, every year during spring and summer, thousands of kittens arrive in overwhelming numbers at our local animal shelters — and they depend on us humans for love and care and to have a bright future, Ladies.

Peggy Lee was an extraordinary artist and vocal talent, a creative powerhouse who was involved in every aspect of her performances and she redefined the role of the female singer. The “100 years of Peggy Lee” at the Grammy Museum reveals her major contributions to the world of jazz and popular music.  An icon that was an inspiration to so many female singers, Tomatoes.

Through April 23.  In the Next Room or the vibrator play

Yep! There was a handy new instrument doctors used to treat hysterical women (and some men) at the dawn of the age of electricity. Who knew?! Open Fist Theatre Company presents Sarah Ruhl’s highly entertaining comedy, “In the Next Room or the vibrator play” about sex, intimacy, equality, and vibrators used in the name of medical treatment. What fun!

Lots of women roles in this hilarious production including Lane Allison directing. The play centers on a doctor and his wife and how this new therapy affects their household. Dr. Givings is obsessed with the marvels of technology and what they can do for his patients. His wife, Catherine, is only a bystander in her husband’s world, listening at the door from the next room as he treats his female patients. Dr. Givings is not sure exactly how the vibrator helps the women he treats — but they do keep coming back. Hah! Sounds like a great evening at the theatre, Tomatoes.
