LA Style: Low Rise Jeans & Coverups

They’re Baaaaack

I’ve been waiting for so many long and denim-less years for the return of the low-rise jean and thanks to the fashion-G-ds they’re finally back!! If you’re short and or short-waisted, low-rise anything is your BFF. Why, you ask? Because they rise and the waist hit us where mid-rise jeans hit the rest of you. If I want to actually wear a true low-rise jean, the zipper length including the waist band would have to be about 3”, finished. My jeans, Zara are also cropped and I still had to cut them to my desired length and that’s ok by me. My savey French girl look includes a striped l/s T, All Saints, a low block-heel slingback, Shein, and a solid leather bag, Hermes. To take me from day to evening, I’ve got my black boucle jacket, Zara.

Pro-Tip: in the case of jeans…do not follow trend. When you find a style that works for your body type, if you can, buy a few so you’ll always have them when the pair before, wears out. In my case, I bought 3 pairs of these jeans, knowing that this trend will sadly, disappear. My very last pair of low-rise jeans were hanging on by a thread.

Get Your California On

All of my pieces are from Gisele Tune in Studio City, CA. I’m wearing this gorgeous bright plaid bathing suit cover-up, Gisele Tune, as an elevated version of an oversized blouse. The cover-up, because of the way it’s cut, offers me the ability to tie and drape to create some, shape. These frayed jeans, Joes, have long rectangular patches in tonal shades of denim that sort of mimic the lines and the tonal highs and lows of the cover-up…this is the kind of geometry I can understand. I’ve accessorized with a cool leather cuff, Kami Jewels, that not only brings out the pink in my top, it drives home that California feeling.

Pro-Tip: a cover-up is a perfect multi-functional item, explore the possibilities.

*please treat your wardrobe well. many people worked very hard to get it to you.
