I never interrupt before I’m through.
Opinions and facts I don’t contest.
Why would I? I so rarely speak to you.
The sound of my own voice is so darn pleasing.
I’m full of unsolicited advice.
Offenses? There’s no need to be appeasing.
I shan’t offend myself – to me, I’m nice.
Once in a while I do notice an echo
that makes me realize what I just said.
An awful gaff or brash bravissimo
in shame will make me cower ‘neath my bed.
I’ll never know if I could be endearing
if I’ve no guts to risk a public hearing.—
