Cut! Print!
I do love a good print mix and my tunic, Clover Canyon, is just that. Back in the day, as a designer/merchandiser, especially when I worked in India, patch printing was my thing, probably because I was so picky and spent so much time looking for the, perfect, ones to combine. I particularly love this combination because they look like scarf prints, which are my favorite and are important this Fall. If we’re being literal, I should say that my tunic is a, single, print. The pattern is that of multiple scarf prints with boarders made to look like they were cut and pieced together. I absolutely adore the colours, especially the brown and orange, two of our strong Fall colours this season.
I have to acknowledge the clever design choice of using this particular silhouette because each pattern and border is perfectly aligned. Also, the pop of, red, around the neckline and sleeves is very strategic because creates an end-point so the eye can stay focused. I’ve added a brown silk vintage headscarf, YSL, that falls in-line with my scarf-print dress. My light orange sandals, Sam Edelman, straw-bag, Bohemia Marrakech, and wood and coral necklaces, pull from the bohemian vibe of the dress. My watch, Cartier, ankle bracelet, Gucci, and sunglasses, Ray-Ban, add some metal for a bit of shine.
Style-Tip: small details make a huge difference in how a garment is perceived. Without the contrasting red, the patterns would basically fade into my arms and look unfinished.
Shades of Pale
LA Story: Looking for a way to integrate some of your Fall pieces into the mix, even though it may still feel like Summer? Keep it, pale. My, season appropriate, casual look is achieved by using a lighter monochromatic colour palette with, vanilla, as the dominant colour. I’m able to combine my fabric and garment weights more innocuously for an overall, read, that’s in sync with the season, no matter what it may feel like.
My Vegan leather pants, Bevy Flog, have contrasting side detail in, camel, making my jacket, Zara, choice a no-brainer. I can get away with a summery, tank, Michael Stars, a straw bag, Bohemia Marrakech, and perforated nylon sneakers, Sorel, because each is within my, pale, colour story. I’ve kept my jewelry simple and minimal with a gold link necklace, Gorjana, a watch, Cartier, ankle bracelet, Gucci, and sunglasses, Ray-Ban. All pieces, combined achieve a completely integrated, look, that is appropriate for our confusing weather.
Style-Tip: when you really know what you have in your closet and shop, based on what you already have, you’re able to build a wardrobe rather than shop, haphazardly
