Gansevoort Landing: A New Public Plaza
Exciting news. A new public plaza was unveiled Thursday in the Meatpacking District. It was empty space in back of the Manhattan Refrigerator Company. Now known as Gansevoort Landing, it will provide a new crossing point between the Meatpacking District and Hudson River Park’s soon-to-be-open Gansevoort Peninsula, a new park which will have a beach!
The plaza has a beautiful street mural commissioned by the Whitney Museum. The mural, titled Buggy Bear Goes on a Cool Cruise is the latest in a series of paintings and sculptures that depict Buggy Bear, a character imagined by Los Angeles–based artist Alake Shilling.

Nothing lights up my life quite like really seeing the wonder and splendor of the New York City skyline. I happen to be in several lofty locations lately and have been captivated by the tremendous views.
The architecture in New York is so diverse offering old and new, glass, steel, stone, brick and greenery for miles. The buildings fit together like puzzle pieces jutting skyward and piercing the clouds. This energetic juxtaposition of styles and the intricate way the buildings neighbor each other, is much like the variety and mixture of the concrete jungle melting pot I call home.
