If you’re looking for your next binge, we have two series and one wonderful documentary to suggest. The Gentlemen on Netflix is a dark comedy series created by Guy Ritchie. Fans of Billie Bob Thornton and legal dramas will be riveted by Goliath (Amazon Prime.) In 1985 Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson wrote “We Are the World” to raise money for African famine relief; the song which featured some of the top performers of the day was recorded in one night and the Netflix documentary “The Greatest Night in Pop” features never before footage of the session.

The Gentleman, a Dark Comedy

 If you love dark comedies, British series, and very sexy leading man, “The Gentlemen” is hits the mark. A Netflix action-comedy series created by Guy Ritchie, inspired by his 2019 film of the same name. The story follows Edward “Eddie” Horniman (Theo James), who unexpectedly inherits the title of Duke of Halstead and a vast estate. He discovers that the land is part of a cannabis-growing empire run by Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario) who is terrific. Eddie must navigate a dangerous world filled with eclectic characters with their own agendas, while trying to protect his home and stay alive. The series is known for its dark humor and thrilling gangster elements, as Eddie deals with family drama, criminal threats, and the legacy of his father. We’re hoping for a Season 2.



A Legal Drama Series Starring Billy Bob Thornton

“Goliath” is an American legal drama series on Amazon Prime Video. It stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a once-powerful lawyer who has become a washed-up ambulance chaser. After being expelled from the law firm he co-founded, McBride takes on a wrongful death case that could bring him redemption or at least revenge against the firm that ousted him. The series follows his tumultuous journey as he faces death threats, harassment, and a legal system heavily skewed in favor of the rich and powerful.

The Greatest Night in Pop is Riveting

“The Greatest Night in Pop” (Netflix) is a 2024 documentary directed by Bao Nguyen, chronicling the iconic recording of the charity single “We Are the World” in 1985. The film features interviews with stars like Lionel Richie, Bruce Springsteen, and Cyndi Lauper, and includes never-before-seen footage from the writing and recording sessions. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was released on Netflix to critical acclaim, celebrated for its nostalgic and enlightening look at a pivotal moment in music history.  It is an incredible documentary. And by the way, the song raised $50 million!
