LA Style Stories: Fusion, Grey, Brown & Wine

LA Story: Fusion

There are a lot of reasons to love a casual fusion of uptown and downtown. It’s a great way to utilize your garments from different seasons and a fun way to combine different trends to create a look that’s expressive and truly your own. It’s still hot in LA and committing to Fall isn’t possible but a fusion like what I’m wearing today is a great way to ease into the season. My gold boucle’ short colorless blazer, Gisele, has a subtle sprinkling of sequins that makes it feel like a Fall/Holiday item, but its weight and shape is definitely year ‘round. For me, it’s all about the raw edge that gives it a more casual feel and it inspired my choice of wearing it with this raw edge cropped patched jeans Zara. Even though both pieces are polar opposites they have the raw edge detail in common to makes them fashionable friends.

Because the jacket’s got the whole Chanel vibe going; I’m using my gold/white chain print Chanel scarf for a casual belt and my neutral tone suede loafers with the gold bit link, LK Bennett London, to drive it home. Nothing screams Summer more than a nautical stripe t-shirt, Juicy Couture. The bateau neck looks great under the cropped blazer and the inky blue and white stripe is a great contrast to the gold. I had to finish my look with a chunky gold rapper chain, Amazon. It adds the perfect amount of pop and playfulness to my seasonless fusion.

LA Story: Grey and Brown and Wine – Oh My!

My screen t-shirt, Suburban Riot, boldly displays my favorite drink and is the IT colour trending, right now. The rich deep red tones in burgundy oxblood and brown are all trending colours for Autumn/Fall 24. This particular group of colours are especially beautiful when they’re paired with a contrasting cool tone like grey. With that in mind, I brought in a vegan leather motorcycle jacket in oxblood, Amazon. The jacket’s reflective hardware prompted my choice of my silver/grey sequins skirt, Zara. It’s always great when one item inspires the next; unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. I went with a pair of chocolate brown Chelsea boots, Sam Edelman, to balance out the heaviness of the jacket and to ground my look.

Had I gone with a silver boot or a metallic sandal, which would seem like a good choice, my look would appear slightly off and somewhat incomplete. If you review the placement of each of my items, you’ll see how I’ve paired them up. I’m absolutely in love with this season’s color palette – more than likely it’s because its somewhat food related. And just like good food and wine; good style makes us feel good and, of course, look good.

style-tip: a cool tone like grey or silver will add brightness to your warmer colors
