Spotlight on Long Island: Drive Through Light Displays

“Baby, it’s cold outside.” Well, Long Island has a perfect solution for you to stay warm and still enjoy the holiday light displays. Enjoy this experience from the warmth of your vehicle. Gather family and friends, pack special treats, and drive through these holiday light show extravaganzas while creating a cozy memory. One of my childhood memories with my family was to drive up and down the blocks looking at local homes with beautiful decorations. I have listed two of each type for you. From my family to yours, I wish you a fabulous holiday season filled with peace, love, and joy however you spend it.

Riverhead Holiday Light Show, Splish Splash Waterpark, Calverton 

Now in its 7Th season, the Riverhead Holiday Light Show drive-through is a spectacular presentation of holiday-themed displays featuring hundreds of dazzling exhibits. From the warmth of your vehicle, tune your radio to enjoy the synched musical light performance as you travel the 1-mile route through the light show. Admission is priced per vehicle. Magic of Lights, Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh 

Experience the magic of the holiday season at Jones Beach’s new holiday tradition. Magic of Lights is a stunning, drive-through holiday lights show featuring traditional holiday scenes and characters of the season using the latest LED technology and digital animations. From the safety and comfort of your vehicle, drive down the 2.5-mile path of sparkling displays as your eyes light up from the joy you will feel. It is one price per carload. Glen Summer Road Christmas Lights, 109 Glen Summer Road, Holbrook 

One of Long Island’s favorite home holiday scenes is the Glen Summer Road display. The Murphy family’s home at 109 Glen Summer Road in Holbrook has been spreading holiday cheer since 2010 with its stunning outdoor light display. The colorful lights twinkle from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM seven nights a week until the end of December. The family has a box set up where you can donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  

Liberty Street House Holiday Display, 119 Liberty Street, Deer Park 

For 44 years, the Barbieri family has been spreading holiday cheer at their family’s home at 119 Liberty Street in Deer Park. It’s an elaborate display of animated scenes and twinkling lights. It has been featured on television and in the newspapers. From 8:00 PM today through New Year’s Day, the magical season is aglow at this home. A donation box is on-site for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
