Nikki Beach Celebrates 25 Years
Nikki Beach in Miami is just a few blocks from where we live in South Beach in Miami, but it seems like it’s miles away once you walk through its front door. It is best known as being the first of its kind to invent the luxury beach club concept. The entire decor is sand, daybed, lounges, white canvas umbrellas, wine, signature drinks, beer and champagne and some of the best Michelin starred chefs in the world serving you culinary treats.
The glamour club is so popular you can find a Nikki Beach club in the best hot spots in the world: Saint Tropez, Saint Barth, Marbella, Koh Samui, Mallorca, Ibiza, Monte Carlo, Dubai, Versilia, Barbados, Costa Smeralda and Montenegro.
What makes Miami Beach so special is the Atlantic Ocean that is situated right next to the club. You don’t know where the club ends and the beach begins. It’s all one big paradise filled with some of the most gorgeous bodies you have ever seen. Every year the bikinis get smaller and the music gets louder.
I first laid eyes on the place 26 years ago when we first vacationed at the Delano Hotel on Collins Avenue. I thought the folks around the pool at the Delano Hotel had magnificent bodies until we mozyied over to Nikki Beach. Not only did everyone look like a model but their fashion accessories to match the little they were wearing were diamonds, pearls and everything Versace.
But don’t let that dissuade you from joining the beautiful people. They love eveyone’s money. The more you tip the more beautiful you will feel. The staff will treat you well and make you feel body beautiful.
Nikki Beach was started by entrepreneurs Jack and Lucia Penrod, as a tribute to Jack’s daughter Nicole, who tragically died in a car accident at just 18-years-old. The couple wanted to celebrate Nicole’s life and the origins of Nikki Beach began with a quiet ‘garden lunch retreat’ by the sea in Miami Beach, calling it Café Nikki. The loving energy and positive vibe soon attracted the most beautiful group of people in town. The soirée kept growing and the only way to expand, to accommodate everyone, was towards the sandy area next to the garden, and, in 1998, Nikki Beach was born.”
La Grande Boucherie Is Finally Up and Running
After years of waiting for the construction of La Grande Boucherie in Miami to be completed, I am happy to report that the restaurant is open for business. It’s such a pleasure to walk by the property at 81 Washington Avenue and hear the staff and patrons chatting away and moving about at the entrance and front garden. It was ghost town for too long.
The art deco building has been transformed into the golden age of France, the charm of a Parisian bistro. The restaurant likes to describe it “a revival of an era that embraced creativity, bold ideas, and life’s simple pleasures.”
It’s not easy to take the elegance of Art Nouveau and have it meet the vibrant energy of Miami Beach. This one-of-a-kind brasserie offers an authentic French dining experience, blending the ambiance of a luxurious steakhouse with the charm of a Parisian bistro.
Emil Stefkov, the founder and president of The Group Hospitality, owns La Grande Boucherie, a restaurant concept that includes locations in New York, Washington, DC, and New Orleans.
The historic building, originally designed by Art Deco architect Henry Hohauser in 1938, has been updated by Julien Legeard of The Prestige Group. The menu has been created by Executive Chef Leonardo Pablo who has spearheaded projects with Jean-Georges.
For the first visit, the chef suggests that you I indulge in a menu of “classic French dishes and timeless bistro favorites, featuring prime cuts of meat, fresh seafood, and an extensive selection of wines. Start your meal with a selection of oysters or a plateau de fruits de mer, followed by a succulent steak frites or a decadent lobster thermidor. Finish your meal with a classic French dessert, like a decadent chocolate mousse or a delicate crème brûlée.”
You will be enjoying that delicious meal while you will be surrounded by custom stained-glass windows, mosaic marble floors, and a stunning racetrack bar imported from France.

Miami Startup Secures $50M For Reservations App at World’s Top Restaurants
Miami NewsBreak recently reported that a local startup named Dorsia has just secured a record-breaking $50.4 million in funding—“a major boost for a company that’s redefining how we book reservations at some of the world’s most exclusive restaurants.”
I thought you would want to know about this because it could be the start of a new trend in dining out at the top restaurants in the nation. Miami NewsBreak is a news source that provides local news, weather, and other information about the Miami area.
Based right here in Miami, Dorsia, a very upscale reservation app, is based in Miami. It’s a members-only service that features over 300 restaurants and nightclubs in 19 global markets. The app offers members reservations at the finest restaurants where they agree to spend a set amount, usually a rather large tab. Memberships range from a $175 a year to $25,000 for those wanting the premium plus experience. Dorsia currently serves New York City & the Hamptons, London, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco & Wine Country, the South of France, and Dubai.
The really cool feature of the “Dorsia Pay” system is the fact that you are now allowed to settle up and leave without paying the check on the spot. You look so amazing to friends and family when you just walk out.
Miami NewsBreak reported that the funding round was led by private equity firm Index Ventures, “with notable hospitality figures like Mario Carbone, David Grutman, and Sweetgreen’s CEO Jonathan Neman.” How’s that for an endorsement? Looks like Dorsia has a good chance to update the restaurant industry.
Founded in 2022, Dorsia revenues tripled in 2024, and it soared five times higher between January 2024 and January 2025. The following Miami restaurants are already working with Dorsia: Carbone, Cote, Komodo, Uchi, and Ariete.
