A Gift of Life: Donate a Kidney
Editor’s Note: Our friend Diane DiResta, a frequent contributor to The Three Tomatoes has an urgent request for Tomatoes – to help save the life of her husband who needs a kidney. And a while back another Tomato contributor wrote a wonderful article about organ donations that involved her niece donating a kidney to her nephew. But often family members are not a match and occasionally a perfect stranger will step up and give this extraordinary gift. Please read Diane’s note, and please help spread the word. Miracles do happen. If you would like to reach out to Diane, please email her at: diane@diresta.com
My husband, Ed, now has End Stage Kidney Disease and desperately needs a life-saving donor kidney, blood type O. He is working with Renewal, a remarkable non-profit organization. They have found an email campaign to be an effective technique, and it’s best to cast as wide a net as possible. So, I am sending you this message in the hope that you may know of someone who is able and willing to do the incredible mitzvah or good deed of donating a kidney in order to save a life. There are many that have donated a kidney, and their health is fine.
To learn how you can save a life or for more information about kidney donation, please call 718 431-9831 or email R23881@renewal.org. Renewal’s website is www.renewal.org. All inquiries to Renewal are strictly confidential and are without any obligation. They can also put you in touch with others who have donated a kidney and are willing to share their experience. All medical costs for evaluation and surgery are covered by the recipient’s insurance. Ancillary costs such as travel expenses and lodging, may be covered by Renewal.
Please send this post to people with whom you email. You never know whether or not there is someone who will respond to this urgent need.
Thank you,
Diane DiResta
