LA LIFE: Sizzle Nights, Taste of France, Walking Tours, Second Home

Hope you Tomatoes had a fab July 4th and a great week.  The nights are heating up in a good way with “Sizzling Summer Nights” at the Autry.  Gelson’s is celebrating France and their scrumptious tastes this month.  Back for the summer are two great walking tours from LA Conservancy. And a magical new space has just opened at The Tarpits and you don’t want to miss it.  Stay cool Tomatoes and have a summer blast in LA this week.


July 11-August 22. Sizzling Summer Nights

 “Sizzling Summer Nights at the Autry” is an outdoor dance party on Thursday nights with an array of Latin sounds from new bands and legends of the Salsa Music Scene.  The Salsa, the Cha –Cha, the Merengue and more makes for a very lively dance floor.  Time to brush up on your hot Tomato dance moves gals.

Oh wait…the outdoor parties include free dance lessons with instructors. Yeah! You also get access to the Autry Museum Galleries and there’s even a separate children’s dance floor. It’s a family affair Tomatoes. Tacos, margaritas, and other light refreshments are available for purchase.


July 5 – July 20. Taste of France

You can stay in LA Tomatoes and save some cash by letting your palate do the traveling with Gelson’s “Taste of France”. Tour all month at various locations. You can sample and delight in the unique and scrumptious flavors of France…and you don’t need your passport Tomatoes.

Gelsons is celebrating the love of France and it’s food and wine for 3 weekends.  And Tomatoes can save 20% on all French cheeses with the French Flag stickers at all stores between July 5-July 20! Look for the French flag stickers on qualifying cheeses. Customers can sample FREE samples in many areas of each Gelson’s store as well.  Viva La France Tomatoes!


Summer Walking Tours

Enjoying an LA Conservancy “Walking Tour” in DTLA is a wonderful way to spend a summer evening Tomatoes and there are three great possibilities. The “City Hall Walking Tour” is only available in the summer on select Wednesday evenings to explore the history and architecture of one of L.A.’s most iconic buildings. So keep that in mind when browsing the choices.

This tour includes a visit to the 27th-floor tower observation deck which is way cool Tomatoes. The “Past Meets Present + DTLA Art Walk”is a marvelous combination for discovering downtown’s historic Spring Street and its transformation over the years! And the tour dates coincide with the popular Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk! And there is always “Modern by Moonlight” consisting of an exploration of the sleek architecture, intriguing public art, and hidden plazas of downtown’s Bunker Hill on a Friday evening.  Tour ends at the revolving Bona Vista Lounge for no-host cocktails, dining, and spectacular nighttime views.  And no kidding these tours do fill up super-fast!


Till November 24.  Second Home Pavilion

 “The Second Home Serpentine Pavilion” at The LaBrea Tar Pits looks pretty darn amazing Tomatoes. This standout creation by SelgasCano is certainly beautifully creative with its rainbow tunnels full of colorful light inviting you to explore. 

The experience shifts with the changing light. Natural light shining through the translucent walls during the day and glowing lights illuminating it at night. Treat yourself Tomatoes to the Second Home Serpentine Pavilion and its one of a kind journey. The Pavilion will also be home to a diverse program of public talks, film screenings and other events all summer long and it is all free Ladies!
