NYC Life: Special Invites, Wine, Restaurants, Broadway & More
We hope you will join us for a special FREE event on Feb. 2 that you will find very inspiring. And we are hosting a ZOOM event on how to manifest what you want! Valerie Smaldone is back and has the scoop on an amazing wine event she recently attended. Speaking of wine, our Long Island reporter says winter is a great time to visit Long Island’s wineries. Restaurant week is coming back this month. Looking for your next Broadway show? We have the 2025 theater guide. There aren’t a lot of “notions” stores left anywhere, but our roving photographer takes us inside the “candy store” of buttons and bows.
Feb. 2. Join Us for an Inspiring Afternoon
Anne Akers and I invite you to join us for an inspiring afternoon on Sunday Feb. 2. Thanks to the generous donations to our Giving Circle, we will present our second $5,000 grant to Hearts of Gold a nonprofit founded by Deborah Koenigsberger that is dedicated to helping women and children transition out of shelters. Deborah will host us at her store, TTH Vintage Boutique, NYC’s premier resale store, which also employs women who are rebuilding their lives at the boutique.
Also joining us will be Cat Curry-Williams, co-founder of She Angels Foundation, author and TEDx speaker. Cat will have signed copies of her bestselling book, Philanthropy on a Shoestring, for the first 25 people who register for the event.
The event is FREE, but you must register to attend.

A Festive Wine Tasting Event
As a wine enthusiast, Valerie Smaldone says she is always intrigued by regions of the world that produce excellent wines but just may not be top of mind. Thanks to the Feldstein Winery, early last month, she was invited to attend the launch of this Israeli producer in the American market. The Feldstein Winery is located in central Israel in the Upper Galilee Region. The terroir, as you can imagine, is quite conducive for winemaking. GET THE DETAILS.
NYC Restaurant Week Returns

Every Show Coming to Broadway in Winter and Spring 2025
Winter is the perfect season to indulge your theater cravings, and this year’s lineup is serving star power on a silver platter. Broadway legends like Audra McDonald, Bernadette Peters and Idina Menzel are back in action, while screen darlings such as Denzel Washington and Sadie Sink are making waves on stage. Add in a parade of buzzworthy West End transfers with rave reviews and sold-out runs (see them now before they sweep the Tonys) and the Great White Way will brighten the dreariest of days. Check out the full guide from NYC Tourism of shows playing now and what’s coming this spring.
Spotlight on Long Island: Winter Winery Experiences
Andrea Peponakis reminds us that there’s never a wrong time to visit Long Island’s acclaimed North Fork wine region, but the off-season, when holiday crowds have dispersed, may just be the most perfect time to go. With smaller crowds enhancing the tranquility and winter specials making visits more budget-friendly, it’s the ideal opportunity to savor the unique flavors of Long Island’s wineries. A Candy Store for Notions
Our roving photographer Nicole Freezer Rubens writes:
Treat yourself to a trip to a candy store of notions! East Coast Trimming located at 142 West 38th Street in the heart of the Garment District, is a unique gem. Their catchphrase is “Get Trimspired!” and trimspired I was. There are a few ribbon and button stores remaining in New York City’s Garment District, with M&J Trimming, one of the larger ones, on the brink of closure.
East Coast has a niche boutique vibe that easily transports its patrons to another time and place. Although established in 2011, the selections include so many vintage ribbons, buttons and preserved specialty items that it could be an age old boutique. In 2014 they purchased Hyman Hendler Ribbon which was established in 1900, truly mixing the old and the new.
Even for non-crafty people, a visit to the store offers visual satisfaction and an explosion of color that is fun and inspiring. East Coast Trimming is a happy place and another sweet hidden treasure stashed away in our busy city. Button up, and be trimspired!

The tomato behind The Three Tomatoes.
Cheryl Benton, aka the “head tomato” is founder and publisher of The Three Tomatoes, a digital lifestyle magazine for “women who aren’t kids”. Having lived and worked for many years in New York City, the land of size zero twenty-somethings, she was truly starting to feel like an invisible woman. She created The Three Tomatoes just for the fun of it as the antidote for invisibility and sent it to 60 friends. Today she has thousands of friends and is chief cheerleader for smart, savvy women who want to live their lives fully at every age and every stage. She is the author of the novel, "Can You See Us Now?" and co-author of a humorous books of quips, "Martini Wisdom." Because she's lived a long time, her full bio won't fit here.
