A Crazy Fun Late Night Broadway Happening
If you are a big musical theatre fan, you must make the time and space to get yourself to a late night party that takes place Thursday evenings at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, below the West Bank Cafe, on West 42 Street.
It’s called “Ben Cameron’s Broadway Sessions” and it is just a great night of performances, plus, the witty patter of Ben Cameron (host, producer and creator of the event), along with impromptu audience participation, fun facts and pop questions.
I finally made it to “Ben Cameron’s Broadway Sessions” this past Thursday night, when the fabulous cast of “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” were featured, and I had the best time.
Along with many of her fellow cast members, Dionne Figgins blew the house down with her incredible performance. (By the way, catch my interview with Dionne on my radio show, “Bagels and Broadway with Valerie Smaldone” this Saturday morning between 9 and 10 on AM970.)
Although doors open at 10, PM, the show begins at 11. You can expect a super casual evening where the performers are having as much fun as the patrons.
It’s affordable too-$10 cover in advance and $15 food/beverage minimum.
You get top shelf entertainment in an intimate space, fun storytelling and questions courtesy of Ben Cameron, and a camaraderie that just feels really good.
The night ends with everyone from the audience on stage “singing their faces off.”
In weeks to come on Broadway sessions, performers from “Wicked” and “Frozen.”
I loved it so much, I want to go every week!
