A Fabulous Find
Recently, I spent the day with one of my dearest friends of 53 years. We drove up to Ojai California, about 65 North of Los Angeles, had lunch and decided to walk around on the main street, Ojai Ave. I stumbled across this dress, Eva Franco, on a mannequin outside of a darling re-sale shop. I’d been looking for a day dress or a ladies who lunch dress that was classic, similar to those of, Oscar de La Renta and Carolina Herrera, with a fitted bodice and a full skirt lined with crinoline. I slid it over my cutoffs and t-shirt, neither classic nor lady like, and it was perfect!
The dress was well made with beautiful fabric, it had no damage and was immaculate. I’m going to alter the hem and make it one length rather than, high-low, like it is now. I’ve styled my look with a pair of brown suede pumps with contrast stitching, Steve Madden, and a brown handbag, Barneys NY. My, Cartier, bracelet, Gucci, ankle bracelet and Ray-Ban, sunglasses bring the modern balance, I need to feel, like me.
Long story short…I waited, patiently to find exactly what I was looking for AND got rewarded…I paid very little money because the store was sadly, going out of business.
Style-Tip: if you know your wardrobe well, you’ll know exactly what you’re missing rather than buying and consuming items that don’t build upon what you have.
*please treat your wardrobe well. many people worked very hard to get it to you.
The tomato behind The Three Tomatoes.
Cheryl Benton, aka the “head tomato” is founder and publisher of The Three Tomatoes, a digital lifestyle magazine for “women who aren’t kids”. Having lived and worked for many years in New York City, the land of size zero twenty-somethings, she was truly starting to feel like an invisible woman. She created The Three Tomatoes just for the fun of it as the antidote for invisibility and sent it to 60 friends. Today she has thousands of friends and is chief cheerleader for smart, savvy women who want to live their lives fully at every age and every stage. She is the author of the novel, "Can You See Us Now?" and co-author of a humorous books of quips, "Martini Wisdom." Because she's lived a long time, her full bio won't fit here.
