Design Fair, Festivals, Beyond Hunger, Strut Your Mutt

Wow Tomatoes! There’s a heck of a lot of Festivals and Fairs this fall week. For all you HGTV addicted fanatical Tomatoes or design aficionados (to put it more delicately) “The WestEdge Design Fair” is open to the public. The “Eastside Food Festival” is the chance for LA Tomato foodies to learn about the Eastside’s evolving culture and neighborhoods with a big treat for your taste buds.  The “Sherman Oaks Street Fair” is back with a plethora of things to enjoy. Heifer International’s event “Beyond Hunger” is happening, as well, this weekend. And, Tomatoes, it is time again to strut your stuff…or to be more precise “Strut Your Mutt” to raise funds to “Save Them All”.

It’s time again for the annual “Strut Your Mutt” Walk, Run and Fun event in LA Tomatoes! Get those strutting shoes ready, your mutt spruced up to proudly wag your tails and strut your stuff to raise oodles of bucks for Best Friends Animal Society to help get the number of homeless pets down to ZERO by the year 2025.

Even if you don’t have to have a mutt to strut for the celebratory walk it’s still okay to join in.  All strutters are welcome. It’s all about saving lives Tomatoes. Many local adoption groups will be at the event with eligible and grateful dogs of all ages to save if you are looking to love and adopt…your new best friend. Can’t make the event? Head to “Strut Your Mutt.org” because fundraising doesn’t end till October 31st. The funds raised will not only go to Best Friends but to also participating local shelters and animal rescue organizations to help fund all their programs to help save pet lives.  Strut to Save Them All Tomatoes! Woof Woof!

October 21. Sherman Oaks Street Fair

The 28th Annual Sherman Oaks Street Fair is a very big deal, Tomatoes, since it is the largest single day event in the SFV celebrating Southern California’s heritage and culture. The fair boasts 200 + vendors (Wow), an Oktoberfest, community classic car shows, pet expo, musical acts on the concert stage and a carnival zone to boot.

Not much more I can say ladies, except it is 9 blocks of So Cal heritage, culture and fun. Of course, there is always more this LA Tomato can say…Tee Hee! “General” Moses Hazeltine Sherman was the founder of Sherman Oaks 91 years ago. Now I get where the street names came from. The Sherman Oaks Chamber Street Fair started in 1991 as a simple arts and craft show and wow look at it now. Sherman Oaks has a lot to celebrate and you can celebrate too for free! Music to my ears.

Oct 21. East side Food Festival

The Eastside Food Festival celebrates the best stars of LA’s lively culinary scene with 30+ amazing local vendors, restaurants, celebrity chefs, caterers and more. If you love food tomatoes, with diverse tastes from local neighborhood businesses, supporting local sustainability and learning about food, then this is the place to be.

It’s also enticing because it’s a benefit for “People Assisting the Homeless”, aka Path, a very worthy organization. I LOVE eating for some good cause Tomatoes. PATH is a family of agencies working together to end homelessness for individuals, families, and communities. They do this by building housing and providing supportive services in 22 locations from San Diego to San Luis Obispo. Yahoo for them!

October 21. Beyond Hunger; West Meets East

Tomatoes are invited to Heifer LA’s annual event supporting Heifer International at the Universal Studios Backlot for a family-friendly afternoon that will illustrate the role women have in ending world hunger. Yes, women can change the world Tomatoes.

Beyond Hunger; West Meets East” is where you and your family can witness Heifer’s mission first-hand — a mission to fight hunger and poverty in a unique way. Heifer provide animals and training to families and communities, starting them on a journey toward self-reliance. But don’t take my word for it — go see the transformational change yourself. I love what Heifer does.
