This tomato feels like crying because the final episode of the 4th Season of “Downton Abbey” has aired and my heart and soul feels lost. Yes, I am proud to say I am a “Downton Abbey” fanatic. If it is English I love it! But where can I get my English fix now? Well, tomatoes, The Rose Tree Cottage  in Pasadena is where Downton Abbey “Speak” is spoken and for those also mourning the final of episode of “Sherlock Holmes” you can drown your sorrows and soothe your withdrawal symptoms by “Doing Tea” at The Rose Tree Cottage in Pasadena.

To “Do Tea” is one of my favorite things “To Do”. I’ve been to many of the wonderful restaurants serving afternoon tea that inhabit Los Angeles and it’s outskirts and I’ll be highlighting them in the future. But my absolute favorite is the Rose Tree Cottage and I have brought many people here to experience the afternoon tea that English Celebs like Angela Lansbury and Helen Mirren have enjoyed. You will feel like you have been transported to the little delightful village down the road from Downton Abbey. I like to refer to myself as “Lady Deborah” when I dine there.

You will even be greeted by Edmund, who is really English and wears a tux with high-tops. I kid you not.

The Rose Tree Cottage serves a traditional English style Full Afternoon Tea featuring their very own English Village Tea accompanied by a mouth-watering selection of finger sandwiches (including my favorite – Cucumber), delicious freshly baked scones with dots of scrumptious Devon cream and their own special preserves. To complete the treat there’s a selection of sweets, including the famous Rose Tree Cottage shortbread. All this, and the pleasure of having your tea served to you on the finest Royal Crown Derby and Royal Doulton Bone China. It is fancy, quaint, charming and elegant all at the same time.

And leave time to explore their adorable shop. You won’t want to leave empty handed. DEFINITELY call ahead and make reservations. Arrive early because parking can be tricky. More than likely you will have to park on the street.
