Are you looking to feel uplifted? Inspired? Good about the world?

Sometimes it is so hard to do, but luckily, we can often turn to theatre for this experience. And last week, I was charmed, delighted and inspired by the most wonderful version of A Christmas Carol on Broadway.

Brilliantly directed by inventive director Matthew Warchus, this Christmas Carol is an immersive experience. It begins the moment you step into the theatre. Actors from the cast walk about providing some really nice treats to the audience, engaging in chit-chat out of character, which I really enjoyed. Musicians play on stage before the show, and there is a general air of good-will and community before the classic tale even begins.

Sound effects play a major part of this production and sound design by Simon Baker is as much a star of the show as the actors are. Set and costumes by Rob Howell are equally important and unique. The gorgeous lighting by Hugh Vanstone sets the mood perfectly.

Starring Campbell Scott, Andrea Martin and LaChanze, this production is simply put, wonderful.

I will not give away how the audience is prompted to help pass on the generosity of Scrooge after he has been transformed by the ghosts who visit him.

I will just say, by all means, go to A Christmas Carol. It will truly warm your heart and make you feel good about the world for a spell.

Hurry! Through Jan 5 only. Get the details.
