Can you believe Christmas is in a few days Tomatoes????!!!! Don’t panic! Take a breath and remember to take a break and do something fun to enjoy the Season. The “Marina Del Rey Lights” are dazzling and Travel Town’s “Holiday Light Festival Train Ride” is special treat for Tomatoes and the little ones in your life. If I’ve missed giving any of the special lighting displays around LA a “mention”, Red Tricycle takes up the slack with their super-duper list. The “LA County Holiday Celebration” and “The Holiday Sing-A-Long” are both chock full of holiday cheer & music to delight your Christmas spirit. LA County Holiday Celebration

Holiday Lights & Holiday Music Galore, Holiday Train Ride

Not only is the LA County Holiday Celebration Los Angeles’ largest multicultural holiday celebration but it is also its longest running Holiday Tradition! The free 59th annual LA County Holiday Celebration provides Angelinos of all ages an opportunity to come together on December 24 to experience and honor the dynamic, rich cultures of the county. The parking is free too Tomatoes! Woo Hoo!  

During the event, many diverse LA based artists and community groups showcase their talent and artistry on The Music Center’s iconic Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage.

For 59 years, the board of LA County supervisors have hosted this multi-cultural and multi-generational 3-hour concert, produced by The Los Angeles County Arts Commission and PBS SoCal, with a plethora of varied multi=talented performances. It’s first come-first-serve so get there early Tomatoes. Can’t make it downtown?  Well then, you can watch the program live from the comfort of your sofa on PBS SoCal. Way to roll LA County!


Travel Town’s Holiday’s Light Festival Train Ride

Choo Choo and Chug Chug! There is no better time to visit the Travel Town Railroad Museum and Griffith Park Southern Railroad than right now Tomatoes. The trains are festooned with holiday lights and ready to give your family a wondrous and festive ride. Go for it Ladies!

You will travel on the historic trains with magical scenes and thousands of lights along the way.  The GPS Railroad occupies a location where miniature trains have operated since the late 1940’s and that railroad is built around the perimeter of the Travel Town Museum built in the 1950’s. It’s quite a place Tomatoes, especially for the kiddos. You can jump on the miniature train for an exciting music filled journey around the beautifully decorated museum property. This event is operated by Travel Town Railroad in cooperation with the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks.


December 22.  Holiday Sing A long

Jingle, Jingle, Jingle Tomatoes… all the way to Walt Disney Concert Hall for the return of the Holiday Sing-Along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic with not 1 but 2 performances December 22. If you love singing Holiday songs, then this is your chance to vocalize alongside the LA Philharmonic! Wow!   ,

Walt Disney Concert Hall’s massive pipe organ, beloved choir, and jazz combo will lead a cheerful selection of seasonal favorites and will provide you with a jolly good time during this wonderful Los Angeles holiday tradition. And if you arrive early you can visit the “Winter Wonderland” in BP and the kiddoes can get a picture with Santa.  John Sutton will be acting as the conductor with the vocals sung by the Angeles Chorale, a 100-piece volunteer collection.


December 22 & 29. Marina Lights

Marina Del Rey is Merry and Bright this holiday season.  Head to Burton Chace Park for Holiday lights and all kinds of free entertainment offered on both Saturdays, 4-8 p.m. including a free outdoor screening of a classic Holiday film. A lovely way to light up your Holiday spirit Tomatoes!

The Festive light displays are glowing every night and they are beautiful!  You’ll also find a warming station, refreshments for purchase, and “The Wonderelles” singing Holiday song’s 50’s rock style on Dec. 22nd and Victorian Carolers on the 29th.  You can enjoy a free outdoor screening of “A Nightmare Before Christmas” on the 22nd and “Frozen” on the 29.

Wow! Red Tricycle has an incredible list of the best Holiday Light Displays in and around Los Angeles this year. With only 6 days to Christmas, I thought you, Tomatoes, might like a “one stop” list of lighting displays to peruse.

And this one doesn’t one doesn’t disappoint. There are several you may have never heard of.  I found one that caught me by surprise in my neck of the woods, but never knew about.  One of the reasons I love writing this newsletter.  I discover and learn too.
