Katherine Mitchell Celebrated at Book Launch Event in NYC

Cheryl Benton and Katherine Mitchell

We were very excited to celebrate the publication of Katherine Mitchell’s memoir From Budapest to Hollywood… Searching for the Promised Land, recently published by The Three Tomatoes Publishing. Katherine Mitchell was interviewed by the 3Ts Cheryl Benton. The well-attended event took place at the historic Lambs organization in NYC, America’s oldest professional theatrical club.

Katherine’s memoir is a rollercoaster ride from Budapest to New York and Hollywood. From daring escapes to shattered dreams, Katherine’s journey embodies the indomitable human spirit. The attendees at the event were enthralled to hear about her remarkable life—from refugee dishwasher to Hollywood publicist, agent, paralegal and screenwriter.

During the interview she read portions of her inspiring book and discussed her escape from Communist Budapest to New York City and what it was like being a refugee in a foreign land. After high school and college in NYC, she married an actor and off they went to the promised land of Hollywood – which she calls the “land of hopes, dreams, and suffering.”

A highlight of the event was her candid discussion of her time in Hollywood in the 1960s and early 1970, and what it was like being a woman in the #metoo days, when everyone was silent about them. She knew and worked with many famous names in Hollywood – the good people and the not so good people – and she shared several shocking stories that made the audience gasp.

Watch the video.

Katherine Mitchell has lived a remarkable life and is a true embodiment of a Renaissance woman. With a passion for storytelling, she has been part of the entertainment industry as an agent, writer, and story analyst for film and television projects during her years in Los Angeles. Her talent and dedication earned her the coveted privilege of membership in the Writers Guild of America West. Katherine’s ultimate aspiration in revealing her life-journey is to inspire others to constantly hone their true selves and “be who you are until you find out who you want to be.” Her book is available at booksellers everywhere.

Here are a few photos from this wonderful evening.
