LA LIFE: Garden Nights, Movie Nights, Uncorked, Tea Time
Happy Friday Tomatoes! The “Summer Nights in the Garden” series is back at the Natural History Museum. On the other side of the city, Tomatoes can enjoy art and sipping wine at The Getty Villa. If Afternoon Tea is more up your alley I just experienced the wonderful and unique “Hi SocieTea” in Hollywood and it is to die for Ladies. Marina Del Rey is hosting “Marina Movie Nights” through September and they’ve got a good line up of films. Holy Moly! It’s your last week of July Tomatoes so enjoy!
July 26 – August. Summer Nights in the Garden
The Nature Gardens at The Natural History Museum are to be cherished all year round but during the summer months their “Summer Nights in the Garden” series gives Tomatoes an extra special opportunity to enjoy it. And combining that with NHM’s new photographic exhibition “Frozen in Time” might just be the recipe for a delightful and unique experience. Just sayin’ Tomatoes
Before you embark on your night in the garden, you should visit the “Frozen in Time Exhibit: Images of Antarctica” for a rare look into the richer story of Antarctica. Through the images of Diane Tuft’s large-scale photographs, Tomatoes will see Antarctica in a whole new light. And exploring this fanciful nature garden after hours under a starry sky with a garden inspired cocktail, a stroll, a picnic or a botanical tour while listening to the beats of live music sounds loverly Tomatoes.
July 28. Bacchus Uncorked Wine and Senses
Enjoy a summer’s evening in Malibu discovering art, sipping wine, snacking on appetizers with a spectacular view of the ocean and enjoying the scents and sounds of the Getty Villa’s garden spaces. I mean, really Tomatoes what could be better. Did I have you wine and a view of the ocean?
It is all inspired by the exhibition “Buried by Vesuvius: Treasures from the Villa dei Papiri”, which I highly recommend you see before the “Uncorked Wine and Senses” program starts. The Getty Villa was modeled after the ancient Villa dei Papiri, which was buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and this exhibition reveals many of the spectacular finds found when it was re-excavated in the 90’s. Philosopher Barry Smith at the “Bacchus Uncorked Wine and Senses” program will lead a sensory experience inspired by an Epicurean view of life in a Roman villa. Smith’s talk bridges ancient philosophy and modern neuroscience, which will lead to a wine tasting with wine educator Diego Meraviglia. Like the sound of that Tomatoes well jump to it because advanced Reservations are required Ladies.
Hi SociaTEA
I was incredibly lucky to be treated to tea at the adorable, fanciful, whimsical, magical thoroughly unique tea shop in Hollywood, “Hi SociaTEA” for my birthday. The fresh baked sweets, the artisan tea sandwiches, and the over 70 gourmet teas are out of this world. What a delight and what a discovery Tomatoes!
Located on the outside of the W Hotel in Los Angeles, “Hi SocieTEA” is a quaint and cozy shop which actually feels like a living room because of the fireplace, the cute feminine furniture, and the charming homey décor with a twist. Let’s say a Harry Potter, Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland flair. It definitely ain’t your granny’s teahouse. The list of teas is mind boggling and so hard to choose. It is tucked away beside modern W Hotel with a staff that is lovely and very attentive. I highly recommend giving it a try with a girlfriend(s), daughter, niece for a special occasion or “just because”. All I can say is I loved it and the experience made me feel special and very happy.

till Sept 28. Marina Movie Nights
Yahoo Tomatoes! It’s Movie Night in Marina Del Rey at Burton Chase Park by the water and it’s FREE! Bring your picnic basket, blanket, low beach chair, somebody you like and you can even bring your pup. Tomatoes can also enjoy a great line up of movies under the stars Saturday evenings. Ain’t summer great?!
It’s all thanks to LA County Department of Beaches & Harbors because they like us. They really, really like us. Movie starts at 8PM… but arrive by 7 pm to grab a good viewing spot and to stroll the walking path. Burton Chase Park is a 10-acre park surrounded by water on 3 sides. Wow what a great location for an outdoor movie.
