October 17. Malibu Creek Bird Walk
If you’re looking for something outdoorsy to do that will get your steps for the day in, why not join a docent for a free, leisure nature & bird walk under the oaks and along the creek at “Malibu Creek State Park”? Sounds like a great plan, Tomatoes.
You’ll learn about the park’s history, plants and animals. You’ll also learn how effectively nature is recovering here after the Woolsey Fire. Malibu Creek State Park is considered the recreational crown jewel of the Santa Monica Mountains. October 16. Salt Marsh Exploration
Join Cabrillo Marine Aquarium MA Educators to learn about the Salinas de San Pedro wetlands habitat at Cabrillo Beach. The birds, native plants adore this precious marsh, and you will love it too, Tomatoes.
You can observe the local live animals with binoculars and microscopes. Visitors can view the birds of the marsh, learn about native plants and observe the changes in the tides and it’s FREE and open to all ages, Tomatoes.
Oct 16. San Pedro Strong & Healthy Fair
Join Providence Little Company of Mary and the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce at the San Pedro “Strong & Healthy” Community Health Fair. It’s all free, Tomatoes, with exciting things to do and even Covid 19 vaccinations and boosters will be available at the beautiful and amazing Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
You can accomplish so much this Saturday! The health fair will offer a variety of FREE health screenings besides COVID-19 vaccinations and available boosters plus entertainment, food trucks, educational tables, exhibits, giveaways and it is free to explore to the aquarium on top of that! Wow! And remember Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA) has the largest collection of SoCal marine life in the world and all visits for the aquarium are FREE! Heritage Square Halloween
All around town there is no lack of Halloween events, but the events at Heritage Square Museum: “Oh, What a Beautiful Mourning Faire,” October 23 & 24, and “Cemetery Lane,” October 27-31st, are one of a kind Spooktacular Halloween events. “Oh, What a Beautiful Mourning” will highlight Cults in Los Angeles from the 19th Century until today. What it takes to join a cult, learn how to identify a cult, and experience the rituals of cult living is the focus of the spooky event. The Heritage Square Museum will transform into Cemetery Lane, with 13 trick-or-treat stops in the homes from the 1800s for “Cemetery Lane”. Both happenings will celebrate Halloween with tons of fun that will delight visitors and, believe it or not, both are family friendly, Tomatoes.
October 22. Real-Life Witches Author Event
Really? Yes, Really! In a conversation between Amanda Yates Garcia the Oracle of Los Angeles and Tarot author Thea Wirsching, these wo professional witches will share their thoughts on spirituality and trauma healing in celebration of their new book. It will certainly be a unique “book event” Tomatoes.
Their new book, “The American Renaissance” is a deep dive into the occult history of America and the Author Event will be held at Village Well Books & Coffee. Village Well is the first and only independent, general interest bookstore in Culver City, with more than 10,000 new releases, paperbacks, and classics in all genres.
