The blooming ‘Narumigata’ flowers are quite a sight to behold at the “Japanese Garden Festival” hosted by Descanso Gardens this weekend. The “Westside Food & Wine Festival” is back with heavenly tastings to help end hunger in our communities. In need of some quiet time Tomatoes? Well, you just might find it at “The Big Quiet” taking place at our LA Public Library. Did someone say “ARTWalk”? Oh, I think I just did. Yes, Tomatoes, it’s time for the “Pasadena ARTWalk.” How loverly.
October 13 & 14. Japanese Celebration at Descanso
Descanso Gardens is hosting a full weekend of Japanese ancient music, art and culture in their beautiful Japanese Garden. What a beautiful place for a Japanese festival. I certainly can’t think of a more perfect place to celebrate. I’m ready to head there, Tomatoes.
The annual family-friendly Japanese Garden Festival includes a curator led tour of the garden, Taiko drum performances and crafting and an exhibit of Ikaban, the art of flower arranging. Free with regular admission to the Gardens Tomatoes
Oct 14. Westside Food & Wine Festival
The 2nd Annual “Los Angeles Westside Food and Wine Festival,” at the Courtyard by Marriott LA Westside in Culver City, is a day full of samplings from over 25 food, wine and other libation tastings from restaurant and spirit vendors from Culver City and beyond with live entertainment and a mission to end hunger A great addition to your list of celebrations to attend. How does that grab ya Tomatoes?
This Culver City celebratory event also features a silent auction, the professional strolling magician, and a fortune telling psychic; as well as raffle prizes. VIP tickets include special perks. And what makes it all even better? The proceeds from the festival’s amazing food, wines, and spirits will benefit the Westside Food Bank. You know how I like them apples Tomatoes.
October 14. The Big Quiet
Shhh… Yep, “The Big Quiet,” known for bringing mass meditation to iconic spaces, is happening at one of our city’s most iconic buildings…the L.A. Public Library. To be more specific, the library’s spectacular rotunda. Sounds like the ideal space for a stress-free time out Tomatoes.
The mass meditation and sound experience will feature live sound bath practitioners, string instrumentalists, surprise musicians and special guest performances. No worries if you are a beginning meditator there will be a simple technique shared with you. Plus, there will be lots of free gifts for attendees. Woo Hoo Ladies!
OCTOBER 13. Pasadena ARTwalk
Holy Cow! This is an amazing art walk with a wide range of selected art, music and so much to do and enjoy tis a tad mind boggling. And it takes place in my favorite area of Pasadena, the Playhouse District which is the cultural heart of Pasadena. Plus…it’s FREE. Need I say more Tomatoes.
Yes, I think I will say a bit more. The Pasadena ARTWalk is Pasadena’s largest urban art fair. The event highlights some of the best Southern Californian visual artists showcasing their work in painting, sculpture, watercolor, photography, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry, drawings, and printmaking.
