I am happily back from my summer break and so… “Hello Tomatoes!” A plethora of cool “Summer Night” events are happening across town. Our LA Stylist, Felicia Arlin, is not just talking about fashion this week and our poetess Lady Penelope has the beach on her mind. July 21-August 25. Sunset Concerts
It’s hard to believe that the Skirball has been offering the “Sunset Concert Series” to the public for free for 25 years. A Tomato can enjoy the showcase of great eclectic music from established and new artists from Los Angeles and beyond in a dreamy hillside setting that is to die for. Sounds so luverly.
Arrive early to eat, drink, shop, and enjoy complimentary access to the exhibitions! Concerts are free but parking is not, so keep that in mind. But it’s a small price to pay for such an event. Don’t forget to sing and dance along Ladies!
LA Style Stories

After 3 years, the “Taste of Summer Every Third Wednesday” events are back and it’s “SummerTini Time” in the charming Culver City neighborhood once again. Enjoying refreshing and tasty martini samples (virgin samples available too) as you stroll is the perfect way to wind down after a hot busy day, Tomatoes.

Get your tickets NOW for the South Coast Botanical Garden’s new weekly “Sunset Series.” The July 28th show has not sold out…yet. This after-hours Sunset Concert will feature cocktails, yard games, live music and kid friendly activities including parachutes, obstacle courses, lawn bowling, bubbles. What fun, Tomatoes! ZOO Friday Nights
Lions and tigers and music, oh my! Enjoy all of the fun without the sun on the Los Angeles Zoo grounds as the Zoo comes alive with musical performances, a family dance party, games, and more, Tomatoes.
It’s pretty dang cool that you can visit your fav wild animals at twilight, Tomatoes. Also included is a full bar, interactive education stations, carousel rides, delicious food bits and beverages. And it’s all at no extra charge, Ladies.

The Aquarium of the Pacific is always a fantastic experience but now it is even more fab with their brand-new exhibit “Babies”. All you have to say is baby animals and I’m there in a heartbeat, Tomatoes. In this heart-warming exhibit you’ll meet the newest cutest members of the Aquarium family and discover how they hold the key to our future. The children are always our hope for the future.
Rescued sea otters, mesmerizing cuttlefish, and miniature sea jellies to tiny translucent fish and a young desert tortoise will fill you with joy and the new exhibits highlight the Aquarium’s breeding programs and how they help us minimize our environmental impact and contribute to important ocean conservation efforts. You’ll also learn about the endangered animal babies that live at the Aquarium receiving special care to help rebuild their wild populations. That makes my heart sing, Tomatoes.

Flea Markets are oh so popular in LA and they are filled with treasures just waiting for you to find. Keep this list safe and at the ready for when you are in the mood to shop till you drop, Ladies. July 17. Art Deco Elegance
Let film and fashion historian Kimberly Truhler help you escape this month into “Art Deco Elegance” with the next in her History of Fashion in Film series. Kimberly will celebrate the costume designers of the 1930s and the stars they helped create – Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Kay Francis, Jean Harlow, Claudette Colbert, and Ginger Rogers. You gotta love the elegant style of the ‘30’s, Tomatoes.
Each presentation includes stills from the movies along with images from today’s fashion accompanied by a conversation about the history, costume and fashion designers, and backstories of the stars. Iconic classic films will be featured and discussed as well. It can all be enjoyed from the comfort of your home on Zoom.
The Three Tomatoes LA Life editor, Debbie Zipp is your friendly guide to the best of everything in LA with a tomato style perspective. Debbie is an actor, producer, and writer. She is best known for her recurring role as Donna on the CBS series "Murder She Wrote" starring Angela Lansbury. She has had many other TV and stage roles and has starred in over 300 national TV commercials. As head of In The Trenches Productions, Debbie produced, directed, acted in many short films for her company.
