LA LIFE: Sunsets & Wine, Art & Jazz, Illuminating Gals
There are breathtaking sunsets galore in LA but one of my favorites is Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood. On Friday summer evenings that is the place to be for a sunset and a taste of wine tomatoes. Speaking of parks everything is coming up roses for the “Art and Jazz in the Art Garden” event at Exposition Park. If you can’t take the heat, there is a lot to be learned from the “Illuminating Women in the Medieval World” exhibition about our female counter parts during that time gals. Hope you find a lovely sunset to enjoy this week tomatoes.
Now- Sept 17. Illuminating Women in the Medieval World –
The Getty is busting many of the stereotypes of Medieval womanhood tomatoes in this new exhibit. There was a lot more to the Medieval Woman than being a damsel in distress, a saint, a nun, a servant, and proper wife and mother. Really? Women of that age could be very powerful too. Woohoo! Methinks we might have more in common that we dost think tomatoes.
“Illuminating Women in the Medieval World” Exhibit at the Getty Center features more than 100 Illuminated manuscripts that give you a deep look in to the women’s lives and roles from England to Ethiopia in Medieval life and reveals that these lives were much more multifaceted, varied and nuanced than perceived. While men dominated artistic production, female patrons, of great wealth and high status, exercised their authority and influence by commissioning books from women artists and authors —and sometimes the patrons even did the illuminating themselves. How very illuminating!
Now – Sept. 22. Barnsdall Friday wine Tastings
Barnsdall Wine Tastings have started up again and it is the perfect way for a tomato to de stress and cool down after a hot summer day. Summer in LA is made even more enjoyable during the cooler evening temps with a glass of wine, food trucks, ice cream and a sunset to die for. These lovely wine tastings sell out fast so chop… chop… tomatoes.
The summer-long series is a fundraiser for the magnificent Barnsdall Art Park, its projects, art programs, historic renovations and Gallery exhibitions. Wow that’s a lot!
Food trucks will be available but you are welcome to bring your own picnic. If you want to take a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House you can do so at an additional cost. Sipping wine for a great cause is always delightful tomatoes.
June 25. Art and Jazz in the Garden
Hear ye, hear ye! For the 3rd year in a row, art and jazz will be alive and well amongst the roses in the beautiful Exposition Park Rose Garden. This event has got everything and I mean everything for everyone tomatoes!
We have the Dysonna City Gallery and artists and vendors from the LA community to thank for this wonderful and fun free afternoon event. So…thank you!
Artwork, photography, beauty products, jewelry, fashion and more will be on display ladies.
Grab a blanket, bring some food, and spend the day with the enticing smell of roses during Summertime, all the while enjoying the rhythms of Latin music.
AND there will be a garden fashion show. Didn’t I say it “has it all” tomatoes?!
