The Los Angeles Food Bank
The Mission of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community. To fulfill our mission, we source and acquire food and other products and distribute them to needy people through charitable agencies or directly through programs; conduct hunger education and awareness campaigns and advocate for public policies that alleviate hunger; and energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief. Our Vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles.
Glide
Glide’s mission is to eliminate homophobia by providing the general public with factual information and diverse personal experiences about homosexuality. We accomplish this through live, interactive presentations tailored to specific audiences. We target educational, business, civic, social, political and religious groups in every ethnic and cultural population.
St. Johns Well Child and Family Centers
The mission of St. Johns Well Child and Family Centers mission is to eliminate health disparities and foster community well-being by providing and promoting the highest quality care in South Los Angeles. They may say South Los Angeles but it looks like they have a lot of clinics all around LA.
OUR Public Library Foundation
The Library Foundation of Los Angeles provides critical support to the Los Angeles Public Library resulting in free programs, resources, and services available to the millions of adults, children, and youth in Los Angeles. Through fundraising, advocacy, and innovative programs, the Library Foundation strengthens the Los Angeles Public Library and promotes greater awareness of its valuable resources.
Our House Grief Counseling
Our House Grief Counseling is considered one of the nation’s most respected centers for grief support and education. So often a helping hand is needed to cope with the intensity of the loss of a loved one, which can be mystifying, surprising, baffling and filled with conflicting emotions. Our House is there to offer support, education and understanding through its programs and support groups with no cost to the individuals in need in Los Angeles. Committed and trained volunteers give their time and hearts to grieving adults and children.
Do Good Bus
The mission of the “Do Good” Bus is to give individuals an opportunity to get involved together, to do GOOD together and learn more about their community. Think…strangers + bus + do good = fun! There is a community ride every month, you can arrange to ride with your business colleagues or you can host one yourself. . During each event, Do Good Bus strives to create awareness for local causes, create community amongst volunteers and prove the power of working together to make a difference.
Prison Yoga & Meditation
Prison Yoga & Meditation is a not-for-profit 501(c3) volunteer group that brings yoga and meditation to incarcerated individuals serving time in the correctional facilities of Los Angeles. Their purpose is to share our compassion, love, and respect with a population who find themselves unseen and often discarded. To be seen, heard and treated with kindness and compassion opens the door to healing and the potential for positive change. They are helping prisoners heal, rehabilitate and avoid reoffending.
