Miami Life: Da Vinci, Wishes, Gifts, Breakfast

Here’s a great reason to go to Boynton Beach — the award-winning Da Vinci exhibit from Amsterdam. If you want to give your dreams a better chance of coming true, the Water Lantern Festival is a great reason to head to Ft. Lauderdale. If you’re looking for a unique gift idea, check out Art-O-Matic by Lofts Projects. Last week I mentioned that for years, there were no breakfast spots in South Beach. Well, that’s changing, and Abbale just started serving breakfast. Maybe breakfast is the new dinner.

Da Vinci: An Immersive Art Experience

Many people who visit Miami because it’s the most exciting city in South Florida also feel compelled to go north into what I like to think is suburbia (Boca Raton, Delray, Boynton Beach) to visit relatives and friends. The Boynton Beach PBS Studios will be featuring the  award-winning Da Vinci exhibit from Amsterdam. Featuring over 50 of his most famous creations, the exhibit will be using digital projections and interactive technology to bring Da Vinci’s visionary world to life.

Some of the features:

Let A Floating Lantern Help Make Your Dreams Come True

If you want to give your dreams a better chance of coming true you should participate in the Water Lantern Festival in Ft. Lauderdale, on November 16th.

It’s a festival where brightly lit lanterns float around in a body of water with the notes you have written expressing your hopes and dreams.

Witness the beauty of thousands of lanterns and the lights reflecting upon the water on an emotional and unforgettable night.

The organizers claim this is a warm, uplifting, soul-filling activity that is sure to leave you filled with joy and love – not only through the expression of your dreams, hopes, and wishes but especially in reading others as they float serenely by.

The lanterns are made from rice paper and wood so they are as eco-friendly as possible and the event reuses and recycles the LED candles. The lantern launch window typically begins at sunset and will continue for 1-2 hours until everyone has had an opportunity to launch their lantern into the water.  GET THE DETAILS.

A Unique Gift Idea for The Holidays

My friend, Leslie Weissman, (Chappaqua and Miami) is an artist, art collector, art advisor, art events creator, and art fundraiser. She has created

a fun way to sell original small-scale artwork for only $50 so artists can generate a little extra cash for the holidays. Called Art-O-Matic by Lofts Projects, the art is created by seasoned artists who will be offering paintings, unique prints, and illustrations. Every piece fits within classic card dimensions.

The art will be stored in a refurbished vending machine. It’s $50 a pull. Either Leslie pulls the lever for you, or you go to one of the locations and do it yourself.

11/12 —Hall Rockefeller’s Show at 33 west 60th street 5-8pm

11/23 Chappaqua Loft Projects Gallery

This project aims to make art collecting more accessible, offering a fun, nostalgic twist while supporting emerging artists. Loft Projects is compensating the artists up front and paying all their shipping costs.

The Art-O-Matic by Loft Projects will launch on November 12 with works by artists such as Jeffrey Melo, Melanie Delach, Mia Dunn, Charlotte Hailstone, Alice Mizrachi, Alexander Deschamps, Ian Thompson, Robert Herbst, Jared Friedman. Merrick Adams, JJ Hamond, Gabriel Roberts and more.

Collectors can also choose a frame for their work for an additional $30.

Art will be loaded randomly into the machine. If you are not available to pull the lever, Leslie will do it for you. email Leslie for details leslieweissman27@gmail.com

Abbale Brings Breakfast To South Beach

There are so many new restaurants South of Fifth in Miami Beach that the competition is getting fierce. Even Joe’s Stone Crab is feeling the pinch. They started taking reservations just to guarantee a crowd.

Now Abbale just announced that they will be open for breakfast when they were just a lunch and dinner place.  The Mediterranean restaurant is getting competition from another Mediterranean restaurant called Motek. It’s actually a very successful chain.

It’s amazing, for years we had no place to go for the first meal of the day and now we have several. Abbale is going full blast with an elaborate menu. I get the feeling if this doesn’t work, they will be in trouble. No one wants that. GET MORE DETAILS.
