Miami Life: Jewelry, Model Volleyball, Music Festival. Powerhouse Conference

I recently discovered that a line of jewelry I have bought for years is actually based right here in Miami. You’ll love it! If you want to watch beautiful people with perfect bodies playing volleyball, head to the 15th Annual Model Volleyball Event this weekend. Another major event this weekend is  The Ultra Music Festival, which is celebrating its milestone 25th anniversary. Top marketing executives are heading to Miami next month for the PO Possible Conference sponsored by Google. In my entire career I’ve never seen a lineup like this one. Miami has it all!

Liquid Metal Jewelry

I first spotted the line of SG Liquid Metal Jewelry at the famous La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California over 12 years ago. I walked into their gift shop and saw an array of bracelets and necklaces that looked like welded strands of industrial ball chains. I actually took that description off of their website.

All I saw was a line of silver jewelry that looked avant-garde and sophisticated. I loved the assortment at first glance. It was the type of jewelry that you could wear all the time and still attract compliments from fashionistas. They were that unique.

Over the years, Eliot and I bought jewelry for me and gifts for others because items were affordable. When I say “affordable,” I mean hundreds of dollars, not thousands. I must own several bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings. I’m always getting compliments and inquiries. The strange thing about our relationship to SG Liquid Metal Jewelry is that we always thought they were headquartered in Northern California because we were purchasing each item from the distributor. It was only recently that we discovered that the company and company store are situated in Miami, a few miles from where I live.

Let’s go shopping together.

The designer, Sergio Gutierrez, created the concept in 1991. He first welded strands of industrial ball chain together. He introduced a new medium: structural mesh transmuted into an art form. Sergio’s Liquid Metal Collection reflects his artistic vision with bold jewelry and accessories that merge vintage style with modern technology. At the heart of his designs is the sensuous and unique mesh that is both contemporary and timeless. Sergio’s creations are meant to be worn daily, like a second skin, an extension of yourself.

Sergio Gutierrez was born in Colombia. He studied electronic engineering while living in Medellin, Colombia. In 1991 he moved to San Francisco where he began researching ways of using ball chain to create a mesh like fabric. After two years he developed what is now the basis of his Liquid Metal Mesh line of jewelry and accessories.

In 1994 designer Betsy Johnson was the first who approached Sergio about creating exclusive designs for her chain of retail stores. She carried his line for two years.  In 1996 he relocated to Miami. Soon thereafter his company began growing with the addition of Nordstrom, Bebe, Cache, W Hotels and hundreds of boutiques that have dazzled  customers of all ages keeping  his collections jewels as timeless adornments to wear to his client list.

Sergio’s creativity and dreams for his business continued. He developed techniques for incorporating his Liquid Metal Mesh with leather bags, bracelets, belts and jackets along with jeans, pants and skirts.

In 2003 he was granted a patent for creating a unique technique he named, “Liquid Microchip.” Electronic circuitry components have been altered to resemble the most delicate intricate decorative elements.

Sergio fondly refers to them as the “skeletons of today’s inside technology.” These “skeletons” are incorporated into his mesh objects collection and leather items.

His designs are collected and worn by celebrities such as: Demi Moore, Cher, Patricia Wettig, Marilyn Manson, Sara Michelle Gellar, Tony Braxton, Sharon Stone, Thalia, Tyra Banks, Julie Warner, Sigourney Weaver, Skyler White, Beaky G, Coco Austin, Nicole Kidman and many more celebrities and featured movies. People who wear his jewelry and accessories daily as if they were an extension of themselves, value the comfort and uniqueness of the wonderful mesh designs Sergio has created.

Butt-Baring Swimwear At The 15th Annual Model Volleyball Event

The 15th annual Model Volleyball event returns to Miami Beach on Saturday March 29 and Sunday March 30 for a two-day, “eye-popping” tournament benefitting the Little Lighthouse Foundation. Miami’s top model agencies will compete from 12pm to 8pm daily at 12th and Ocean Drive. This event is free and  open to the public.

The reason I say “eye-popping” is because the models will be wearing butt-baring swimwear. This is certainly not your mother’s volleyball game. The Model Volleyball tournament has lived on the sand of Miami Beach since 2010 and has become a globally renowned event.

This free event is open to the public & features top model agencies competing in a co-ed beach volleyball tournament. These top agencies include Next, CGM, Elite, Ford, Select, Front, Source, Runways & Dorothy Combs.

The battle consists of a bracket-style competition where teams compete against each other in a round-robin format where day two is a single-elimination tournament. Teams compete for bragging rights and luxurious prizes each tournament.

After completing its 14th consecutive year, Model Volleyball has grown to see nearly 15,000 attendees, over 300 participating models and over 500 million in media impressions per tournament alone. Media partners have included iHeartMedia, Snapchat & Shape Magazine.

In 2018, Model Volleyball expanded to Los Angeles and completed the inaugural Venice Beach tournament on Sept 29, 2018, and celebrated the 10th anniversary of Miami Beach in February 2019.

Get Ready To Hear All Types of Loud Music All Weekend Long

Miami is going to be rocking all weekend long. The Ultra Music Festival is coming to town for its milestone 25th anniversary, taking over Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami from Friday, March 28 to Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Ultra Music Festival is an electronic music gathering in Downtown Miami with three days of nonstop beats that’s going to reverberate all over the city. Miami get ready for massive crowds participating in marathon dance sessions.

Tips:

Ultra’s got everything—from burgers and tacos to sushi and pizza—so you won’t go hungry. With so many stages and headliners, Ultra’s lineup is stacked. Avoid last-minute scrambling by downloading the Ultra Worldwide app to create your own schedule, select your favorite sets, earn Ultra Passport points, and check out the must-know FAQs before the fest.

Ultra Is Rain or Shine—Come Prepared

Miami weather can flip fast—one minute it’s sunshine, the next, a tropical downpour. Ultra happens rain or shine, so bring a lightweight poncho just in case. And since the sun’s no joke, pack water-resistant SPF to avoid looking like a lobster by day two.

The Powerhouse of All Marketing Conferences

I have never seen such an extensive lineup of top marketing executives and companies attending a business meeting in my entire career but that seems to be what’s happening at the PO Possible Conference sponsored by Google at the Fontainebleau, Miami Beach from April 28-30.. If you have an extra $2,500 that’s not earmarked for anything else, you may want to participate in this event. You are certainly going to see and hear from top-tier executives that you never would have had a chance to meet before. Yes, there are plenty of sessions for up-close and personal conversations.

PO Possible has an agenda for masterclasses, workshops, and deep dives sessions designed to better your industry knowledge in a vast array of topics. Of course, you will also get the opportunity to stay in a glamorous hotel, sun and swim on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and dine at many of the finest restaurants any city has to offer.

Have the best “possible” time.  http://www.possibleevent.com
