Miami Life: Restaurant Picks, Cleveland Orchestra, Cabaret

My nail salon of 45 years not only has the best mani pedis but the best restaurant recommendations.  And my recommendation this week is the new restaurant at the iconic Eden Roc Hotel.  Great News—the Cleveland Orchestra return to Miami for three weeks. And I’ve the scoop on a cabaret show featuring the hottest music in the world from the famed Las Vegas Strip to Broadway and New York’s Studio 54 to Havana’s famed Tropicana.

The Blush Nail Salon’s Miami Restaurant Picks

I have been going to the same nail salon in Miami Beach for years. Not only do they offer the best manicures and pedicures of any salon I have visited for the last 45 years, (New York and Los Angeles included), but the owners of Blush Nail Salon, on 14th and Alton, can tell you the best restaurants to frequent.

How do they know so much? Owners Manida and Haya, say they learn a lot of their clients. Nail salons are a great resource for gathering information on the best restaurants, clubs, doctors, gyms, clothing stores, et al. I finally tapped into their recommendations by making them give me the best places for dinners.

This is what they recommend. More updates in the future.

Great News for Miami

The Cleveland Orchestra is returning to Florida, expanding its Miami residency to three weeks in 2022-23 season, marking its 16th year at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. So many of my friends had subscriptions to the concerts for years. Then The Cleveland Orchestra took a hiatus for a number of reasons, including the pandemic.

Now they are back in full swing with Musical Director Franz Welser. We can look forward to leading works by Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Respighi, and Deutsch over two weekends in January. Featured artist Lisa Batiashvili will perform Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto and Michael Tilson Thomas will lead performances with the Orchestra in partnership with New World Symphony Fellows featuring music of Ravel, Varèse, and Debussy with pianist George Li in November.

This will be the 16th year of its Miami residency in partnership with the Adrienne Arsht Center. All concerts at the Adrienne Arsht Center take place at the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall. The Adrienne Arsht Center has been the presenting partner of the Orchestra’s Miami concerts since the annual residency began in 2007.

“The Cleveland Orchestra’s commitment to the vibrant Miami community remains strong after more than 15 years, and we could not be more pleased to be adding back a third week of activities starting in 2022-23,” said André Gremillet, President & CEO of The Cleveland Orchestra. “We are very fortunate to have the Arsht Center as a valued and supportive partner for our performances in the superb Knight Concert Hall. The new collaboration with the New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, will add another dimension to the residency as we will build on what is already a strong relationship between our two institutions.

We’re grateful for our deeply loyal patrons in Miami and in Florida who make this residency possible. We look forward in the coming years to deepening our impact and further developing audiences in this great cultural capital through our concerts, education programs, and partnerships with local institutions.” GET THE SCHEDULE.
