New at the Morgan: Drawn to Greatness
The Morgan Library and Museum has a very interesting exhibit until January 7th called, “Drawn to Greatness”, Master Drawings from the Thaw Collection. The Thaw Collection of Drawings is considered among the foremost assembled by an individual over the last fifty years. Drawn to Greatness features more than 150 master works highlighting pivotal artists and key moments in the history of draftsmanship. Some of the artists represented are Rubens, Rembrandt, Piranesi, Watteau, Fragonard, Goya, Ingres, Turner, Degas, Cezanne, Gauguin, vanGogh, Matisse and there are even more!
The Morgan’s director called the gift of the collection transformative. The great range of artists, schools and regions represented is truly remarkable. I enjoyed it very much and encourage you to see it and plan to spend some time there as it’s a large exhibition.
