“Impressive performances and a formidable score can go a long way to making a successful musical.” –THEATERLIFE

DAVID is the story of the biblical King David, nearing the end of his life, looking back at the decisions he made, good and bad, bemoaning the fact that history may only remember him as ‘the kid with the slingshot.’  With the prophet Nathan they recount the dramatic events that led to his rise from obscure soldier to warrior to lover to eventual king of the entire land. Told with humor and poignancy, the musical peels away at the myth to reveal the actual man. A man capable of jealousy, heroism, passion, and leadership.

Where to Watch the Macy’s Fireworks

This year’s July 4th fireworks in NYC will be spectacular! After a decade, Macy’s fireworks are launching from barges along the Hudson River. The display will feature thousands of shells, vibrant colors, and captivating effects. For those lucky enough to secure tickets, viewing spots at Hudson River Park’s Pier 45 or Pier 84 will offer front-row seats. But there are many places to enjoy this year’s fireworks celebrations, from rooftop bars with prime views of the Hudson River to boat cruises that offer a front-row seat to the action.  Roving at the Mermaid Parade

Our roving photographer, Nicole Freezer Rubens writes:

I always adore going to Coney Island, partially because I love the beach but mostly because I get a kick out of being able to take the subway to an urban seaside shore.

Last Saturday I went to my oasis to see the 42nd Annual Mermaid Parade. The photos speak for themselves.

This free-spirited event celebrates the artistic slant of the art parade participants. The pageantry of the people is displayed through creative and over-the-top costumes, all variations on the under-the-sea theme. The first parade in 1983 was inspired by Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It has evolved to reflect its New York City stage.

Coney Island is steeped in a unique history evident in the many remaining vintage storefronts, restaurants, and rides, mixed with a few new updates. It seems as if the soul of this beach town has not changed.

The Mermaid Parade is as kitschy as Coney Island has always been and the extreme creativity is as innovative and vibrant as the greatest city in the world. Each year on this day that kicks off the start of summer, Surf Avenue and the boardwalk are taken to great colorful new heights.

A Sushi “Kawaii” Dining Adventure

If you like Japanese cuteness, called “kawaii” head to Sushidelic, a sushi kawaii experience. Curated by the visionary Sebastian Masuda, known as the “father of kawaii,” Sushidelic blends art, flavor, and whimsy.

As you step inside, leave the bustling streets behind and enter a vibrant, colorful world. Massive cat heads hang from the ceiling, neon lights resemble lipstick tubes, and a sushi conveyor belt winds through the bar, carrying Masuda’s art pieces—like a patchwork teddy bear or bedazzled high heels. Here, food becomes art, and every meal is a canvas painted with imagination. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or a curious explorer, Sushidelic promises an unforgettable dining adventure. GET THE DETAILS.

Afternoon Tea at the Morgan Library

The Morgan Library and Museum is one of our favorite spots. Visit the latest exhibitions, and enjoy afternoon tea, lunch, or early dinner in the Morgan Café. It’s a casual dining atmosphere in the glass-enclosed central court, evoking European alfresco dining. A full-service menu now offers an array of starters, pastries, main courses, desserts, and beverages. Reservations are not required. The Café is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm, and Friday from 11am to 6:30 pm. Check out the menu.
