NYC LIFE: Tony Nominees, CAMP, Art, Food, The Boys Club and More
We love spring in NYC. The Tony awards are just around the corner and Sandi Durell has highlights of the press meet and greet with the nominees. The MET Gala captured a lot of attention this week with the outrageous “fashions” celebrating this year’s Costume Institute’s latest exhibit “CAMP: Notes on Fashion”. The exhibit is now officially opened, but here’s a preview from Ellen Easton who attended the press event earlier this week. Art is everyone in our streets and parks and spring is a great time to explore them. It’s food festival season and we’ve got the scoop. And the head Tomato invites you to a very special evening, “Welcome to the Boys Club.”
Meet the 2019 Tony Nominees
It’s a long morning for press and the Nominees who meet and greet them. This year’s press junket took place at Sofitel on West 45 Street on May 1. By 10 a.m. many of the nominees were being led into various rooms by their press reps to speak about their Tony nomination. It’s hard to get them all, obviously but here’s a sampling and what they had to say.
NYC’s Outdoor Art
Art abounds on the streets and parks throughout the city. We love amNewYork’s guide to art around the city. Head to Rockefeller Center to which is showcasing 20 sculptures from 14 artists on its plaza. And there’s the Audubon Mural project which can been seen from the East Side, and many more. Check out this terrific guide.

The 3Ts Cheryl Benton, who also chairs the New York City Leadership Council which supports the extraordinary work of Plan International USA to promote gender equality for girls, to keep them in school, to keep them safe, and so much more, invites you to a very special event “Welcome to the Boys Club: The Changing Role of Masculinity.” It will be an eye-opening panel discussion and the venue is beautiful – overlooking Times Square with an outdoor terrace.
There will be a wine and food reception and a wonderful chance to connect with other attendees. The event will support Plan’s Champions of Change project in El Salvador, which reshapes boys’ and girls’ views on gender roles, with the goal of reducing violence across communities. Tickets are just $65 and proceeds will support Plan’s program. Please join us.
