NYC LIFE: Weekend Fun, Support Girls, Museums, Restaurants

Happy Memorial Day weekend.  We hope you fill it with fun and pause to remember our fallen heroes. And isn’t it great to see our Navy men and women all around NYC? There are some great Fleet Week Events. And the Air Show at Jones Beach will be spectacular, as always. Check out a few things to do this weekend including taking your pup to Pier 46! If you’re in a museum mood, the NY Historical Society has three exhibits honoring the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. If you like Brazilian BBQ, Gael Greene suggests heading uptown on the East Side. And please join us next Wednesday May 29th for a powerful evening that supports girls.

May 29. Join Us for a Powerful Evening in Support of Girls

The 3Ts Cheryl Benton invites you to join the New York City Leadership Council for Plan International USA for a very special event – “Welcome to the Boys Club: The Changing Role of Masculinity.” It will be an eye-opening panel discussion and the venue is beautiful – overlooking Times Square with a beautiful outdoor terrace. There will be a wine and food reception and a wonderful chance to connect with other attendees.  The event will support Plan’s Champions of Change project in El Salvador, which reshapes boys’ and girls’ views on gender roles, with the goal of reducing violence across communities.  Join us. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased here.

Fleet Week Events

Head to Piers 86 and 88 where many of our military ships are docked and take a tour and see performances by Broadway stars.  And don’t miss the USS New York which is made from steel from the World Trade Center and is dedicated to the victims of 911. There’s a Navy Dive tank in Times Square too and so much more. Get the full schedule of events.

May 25 & 26. The Jones Beach Air Show

The Bethpage Air Show is returning to Jones Beach State Park for its 16th year, with high-flying stunts and incredible performances in the skies! Here’s everything you need to know before heading to the beach. It runs from 10 am to 3 PM both days. But get there early – parking lots fill up. Or take a train from the city.  Get the details.

Summer Movies on the Intrepid

NYC LIFE: Weekend Fun, Support Girls, Museums, Restaurants

There are lots of outdoor movies in NYC, but certainly watching a movie from the deck of the Intrepid under the stars is one of the coolest (in both meanings of the word.)  Enjoy views of the Hudson River and city skyline while you watch some old and new favorites on the big screen. Admission (free of charge) will be first-come, first-served seating. Get the details.

May 25-26. Pup Fest at Hudson River Park’s Pier 46

NYC LIFE: Weekend Fun, Support Girls, Museums, Restaurants

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., you and your best pal can head to the park for a day of dog-centric fun including an obstacle course, a tasting kitchen and “barkery,” photo ops and shopping. The Treasure Truck will have new, trending and local treats and offers that owners can buy on the Amazon app and pick up at the truck. For those looking for a new best friend, Animal Haven will be on-site with adoptable dogs and puppies.  Get the details.
