Shine Baby Shine: The Power of a 30-Day Agreement

The Journey

“Nancy, what do you want?” This simple yet profound question was asked by a therapist during one of the most challenging periods of my life. Newly divorced and raising a young child, I was overwhelmed and searching for direction. Sensing my confusion, the therapist offered advice that became a cornerstone of my future: “Focus on one thing at a time… what we focus on, expands!”

That moment marked a turning point. By breaking down my intentions into manageable steps, I discovered that I could navigate through uncertainty and find growth. This approach became the foundation of my coaching programs—designed to help clients concentrate on one key aspect of life at a time, leading to meaningful, lasting change in just one month.

The Inspiration

The effectiveness of this approach was reinforced by a story that deeply resonated with me. Early in my career as a life and love coach, I read about a disillusioned wife on the brink of ending her marriage. Before making her final decision, she conducted a 30-day experiment.

She stopped criticizing her husband and focused solely on appreciating his positive qualities. The subtle transformation in her marriage was so promising that she extended the experiment for another 30 days, leading to a renewed and more joyful relationship.

This story solidified the power of dedication and commitment, which I integrated into my coaching practice. The magic lies in combining the powerful question—”What do you really want?”—with a 30-day promise to one specific goal. The results? Life-changing.

Success Stories

Kate’s Self-Love Transformation

Kate had a successful career, fulfilling friendships, and inner and outer beauty, yet she battled a relentless inner voice that whispered she was never quite enough. This self-doubt overshadowed her brilliance, leaving her feeling diminished despite her achievements.

Through the “Shine Baby Shine” program, Kate made a heartfelt agreement to treat herself with the same kindness she would offer a cherished friend. She stopped comparing herself to others and focused on her unique strengths. Each day, she documented her “wins”—big or small—in a jar, transforming overlooked victories into a glowing testament to her self-worth. Through our weekly sessions, Kate realized she was more than enough, just as she was, and her inner light began to shine brightly, illuminating her path to success.

Melissa’s Relationship Journey

Melissa felt disconnected from her husband of fifteen years, with communication so strained it seemed they were leading separate lives. When asked to recall what she was like during the early days of their relationship, she replied, “I was nicer and more fun!” This honest confession highlighted that her struggles might stem from a shift in her own behavior and perspective.

Melissa committed to a 30-day practice of positivity and self-love, while pledging not to criticize her husband. Instead, she acknowledged his good qualities and redirected her focus away from negativity. This practice, though challenging, boosted her own self-esteem and happiness. Her husband responded positively, becoming more affectionate and attentive. Melissa’s journey highlights the impact that intentional positivity and self-care can have on relationships and overall well-being.

Conclusion

Imagine dedicating 30 days to nurturing your well-being or your relationship, focusing on your strengths, and silencing self-criticism. Over this month, you’ll experience personal growth, resilience, and a deeper connection with yourself. As you document your daily wins, you’ll witness the beauty of your progress. This short-term commitment can ignite a profound transformation, leading to a more fulfilling life. Embrace this journey with an open heart, and watch your life shine.

In a single day, there are 86,400 seconds. Imagine the possibilities of what you could accomplish in 30! The time is yours—what will you create?

Shine Baby Shine: The Program

Three key tools guide this transformative journey:

  1. Documenting Daily Victories: Every win, no matter how small, contributes to building momentum and cultivating a sense of achievement. Documenting these successes daily allows you to reflect on your progress and stay motivated.
  2. Signing a 30-Day Agreement: This agreement is a sacred promise to yourself or your relationship. Like a meditation mantra, reading it each morning reinforces your intentions and motivates you to begin each day with a clear sense of purpose. It serves as a daily reminder of the promises you’ve made, guiding your actions and decisions.
  3. Accountability: Partnering with a coach who is steadfastly in your corner provides invaluable support. Personal coaching offers the encouragement needed to stay committed, making the journey feel collaborative and less daunting.
