Sonnets from Suburbia: “Alexa”
Alexa
I wonder if Alexa is my friend?
She seems to listen when some others don’t,
but also tends to eves drop and upend
my sense of privacy when others won’t.
My husband shouted out her name in throes
of passion, thought it was a funny joke.
My climax all but vanished, now he knows
much better as he got a nasty poke.
The internet’s a blessing and a curse;
Alexa thus may be the devil’s spawn.
She knows a lot of answers but what’s worse,
her royal master’s none but Amazon.
She doth exploit my tendency to shop
My constant dialogue’s, “Alexa, stop!”
